61. mslady... I'm speechless! First of all, what is "the cause"?! Keeping racism alive?? Because that is exactly what the Sharptons and Jacksons of this country do for a living! (and a mighty FINE living they make!). But they need not work so hard, because people like you do an even better job at keeping racism...or, excuse me, "the cause" alive. And voting for a president because he is black... Good Lord, people should have to take some sort of test before they are allowed to vote.

63. The only TRUE reason why Al Sharpton protests like this is so dumb ass Americans black & white) will buy into his scare tactics, this man is all about scaring his own people. Sharpton and other black learders only want to keep black americans down so they can make money off of them, total race baiters!

64. I am so sick of this man!!! He complains about racism, but he promotes racism!

65. POST 74 Why assume that this act was done out of extreme hatred of blacks. How about the victim intiated the confrontation, took aggressive action against the police and the police responded in an extreme but valid manner based upon fear o f being killed. Do you have any idea how many New york Police men are murdered every year? Do you ever consider that these men and women who wear the uniform are doing an ungodly hard job that is so often thankless. Your statement is poorly thought out and naive in its presentation. Keep having thought like the ones your having and racism will continue because you breathe life into its pathetic existence.

68. Some of you guys here are really ignorant. Al Sharpton is not blaming a race for this tragedy . . . . he's blaming "police officers".

69. Al Sharpton would not be involved if it was a white guy that got killed, so don't tell me it's not about race.

70. You have BET, NAACP, Negro college fund, you get where i am going, so what would Al be preaching if there was a WET (White entertainment tv) NAAWP (National Association for the advancement of white people) and a white collage fund i know many white kids out there wanting a education but because of the color of their skin cannot get it.......Anyway this man has went overboard a long time ago and if a white man sneezes to hard he would swear he was saying the N word, give me a break.......

72. I must say that I really dont like Al Sharpton and think he is a racist. When I first saw this report I thought they were protesting and got really violent so they were arrest. I guess I'm basing it on a stereotype since it does seem like there are a lot of black people that when they get upset, they will get violent and disorderly. Probably because I feel like some blacks think things are racist even when they arent, especially towards police officers. They will not obey the officers and instead start yelling in their face, leading them to get arrest.

But I just went and searched an article about this protest and I found out that Al Sharpton lead a somewhat silent, non violent protest, just blocking traffic. And then they just got all got arrest calmly and I have to say that I really respect that.

73. Seriously.. the race card is tiring. "Milk is racist because more black people are lactose intollerant", "The coffee industry is racist because the coffee is a black color", "People who use the phrase "pot calling the kettle black" are racist even though Pots and kettles were once all black, so its an idiology that show the hypocracy of the pot calling the kettle something that can be in turn said about itself."

Its not always about race.

2 of the cops in this case were black. The cop that took the first shot was black.

The cop the guy tried to RUN DOWN WITH HIS CAR was black.

What gets me... do you notice Sharpton always stands up for the criminal who commits serious crimes simply because he's black?

How is that worse than a cop who Harasses an innocent man simply because he's black?

Both are grasping at opportunities because of the color of someone's skin. That means Sharpton is just as racist as anyone else.

if he wants equal rights, shouldn't he march against crimes done to his race, and BY his race? If he wants change... shouldn't he stand up for what is right, and not stand up for anyone because the color of his skin?

Isn't that racism? to only look at the color of the skin and not the deeds that have been done?

74. Ralph,
Yes it is about race . . . . thus we have REV Al Sharpton. Now I dont agree with alot that REV Sharpton says or does, I do love his effort to make sure Black people are treated equally. With that being said, REV Sharpton is blaming "police offficers" not "black or white" He isn't protesting because a white officer was involved, he is protesting because a black person's civil rights were violated.
For those of you who dont see the injustice here, obviously have never been pulled over for DWB. In my 34 years, I have had a gun put to my head twice by HPD (Houston Police Dept). The first time for having 4 passeners, the second for having my music too load. Some police officers DO behave as if they are aabove the law . . . .I see it time and time again. This young man did not deserve to die this way.
