Jason Castro: Lyrically Challenged

The trainwreck that is Jason Castro finally derailed for good last night when he completely effed up a line of "Mr. Tambourine Man" -- and just mumbled along instead.

And you thought Bob Dylan was tough to understand.

32. Michael (#14) - I caught that too. Later that night I also heard somewhere that he said he wanted out. My guess is that either the stress is getting to be too much, or he's rethinking his career plans a little. Either way, I think he'll be happier off the show.

Sometimes too much fame too soon is worse than the long struggle to get to the top.

33. Jason is a mediocre muscian. He should have been voted off several people back , which is a shame cause they deserved to still be there and he didnt! His performance last night was so sub par and those that went before him were so much better. But the others will do great without being in the final three, but it just irks me that he did that last night. He blew it, weather it was intentional or not, it was not a good performance and if you are forgetting words to your songs down to the wire,, you dont need to be there. Im sure he will do fine singing somewhere doing his own thing too, but he doesnt have much personality so we shall see. And if he did blow it on purpose, how stupid is that? I think he just plain forgot the words,, nerves you know, and you have to have good nerves to be a performer. He just doenst act like he cares. Something he needs to work on. Im still praying for little shy,,,,shes the best,,, Archeta is too young and is boring, hes good ,but Im just not feeling it from him due to his age and lack life experiences. David Cook is great too, but Im really hoping for Shy, she really really wants it, she sure has come a long way and is very talented! To get this far they are all winners no matter how you slice it tho!

34. I agree with those who think Jason tanked on purpose. I hadn't seen his comments in the Dallas paper and now it makes sense. I started to wonder last week because his reaction to the criticism was different (as if he didn't care, rather than seeming to get tears in his eyes as was his norm). His voice cracked a lot on the first song last night and I had a feeling he "forgot" the words on purpose in the second song.

Oh well. I had him pegged as a one-hit wonder in the making anyway.

36. It saddens me that people are so hateful about this young man. He is one of the nicest kids you will ever meet. He doesnt smoke weed and he really Loves the LORD!

38. He'll do just fine. Word is out that he's already had some interest from a couple of indie outfits. He's not AI material. He's too real and tough to package. And good for him.

39. Yep...after reading the comments, I think Jason is bombing on purpose...wants to go home.

He has probably already seen the 'behind scenes' rat race and cold shoulder of the stardom world, and the potential huge contracts involved, etc....and doesn't like it. He most likely just wants to perform small gigs here and there, make a comfortable living off of a CD or two, and that is about it.

40. He's not even a lounge singer. Coffee shop or off-beat twenty-something bar would be his best bet.

41. PERFECT SOLUTION FOR JASON!!!:

After the show, make a couple of CD's, market them (since now he has the exposure), and Join a cruise ship somewhere to perform his gigs. That way, he can still do what he loves to do, see the world and hang around the islands making a comfortable living. I'm sure he and his touring fans would love it. A win win situation for all. He can then be himself without all the hoopla pressure from the down and dirty, back biting stardom world that exists with bigger contract deals.

42. Yeah......he'll be a big hit at your local coffeehouse. At least there he can make up the words as he goes along.

43. Its time for him to go--he actually lasted longer than he should've and he needs a haircut badly. If he doesn't go tonight, then i have to admit that the show is rigged and there's no way they can tell me any different and i will never watch the show again.

44. Or maybe at home with a karoke machine.........the windows and doors locked.........that way the neighbors won't complain!!

45. #31...MANY OF US DO LOVE HIM! And what you said, makes all the sense in the world, as to why I think this whole big Hollywood business scene is not really for him. I think he is realizing that now. His values and beliefs often don't mix well in showbiz, but now that he has exposure, and even if he doesn't win AI (which is most probable), he will do well, just singing on a smaller level and making a comfortable living at it, if he still chooses to.

When he joined AI, he probably didn't clearly see all the challenges of the cold world of big business.
