Jason Castro: Lyrically Challenged

The trainwreck that is Jason Castro finally derailed for good last night when he completely effed up a line of "Mr. Tambourine Man" -- and just mumbled along instead.

And you thought Bob Dylan was tough to understand.

46. Hard to say what's on this fellows mind. He's got the talent, he's got a unique look, but he just doesn't seem to want it all like the rest of them. He comes from a very humble background and to be on the show gave up some very important charity work that his group of friends are now taking part in. Maybe he's thinking that to win or to make it big on AI that his whole world and whole way of thinking and being able to do the things far more important to him will be lost because he'll be trapped for God knows how long with the long arm of control that AI contractually has on the contestants. I'm not sure if he'll be gone tonight. I honestly think he wants to leave and get it over with, but his fans might deliver otherwise. Either way, all the best to him and I hope what ever happens leads him to the things he wants the most.

47. Maybe he should have picked a different Dylan song, Like, say, "Desolation Row".

50. I can't believe he went as far as he did. It's all popularity now. All the little girls are voting for him. He can't sing to save his life!!

51. Wish some people would stop insulting his hair and hygiene though. He always looks clean and well groomed to me. The hair is his 'statement', and part of his personality he wants to portray. Dread locks (and most importantly, the scalp) can be washed just fine. Just because he wears them, doesn't mean he is dirty! I actually think he looks really good in them...better then most people who wear them. Hope he keeps wearing them too. Nothing wrong with them, or trying to break free of the status quo mode of everyone should do and wear what EVERYONE else is doing and wearing! Sheesh!

54. You know...in the beginning, A LOT of people didn't like Bob Dylans sound either, and 'technically' Dylan can't sing for squat!, yet most of the world began to love him after he became more well known. They still love him today. Dylan is an icon, and yet Dylan himself, even once admitted in an interview that many of his songs had no meaning at all, and that he couldn't sing...he was often amazed that people would coin him as some huge philisophical guy and that the words to his music had deeper meaning. Well, many of them do, but not all of them. Dylan just like to do his own thing, which was a really acceptable idea back in the 60's. Dylan (often stoned while writing), just wrote songs because he loved poetry and music together. I love Dylan...mostly...for being himself, and not giving a damn about what others think of him! THAT IS WHY HE MADE IT BIG!

57. Okay, here is a question for ALL of you Jason fans that are defending his "I don't give a crap about Idol" attitude: If a person does NOT give a crap about a reality show or sport team or movie, then why in HELL do you participate or watch it???" I could care less about a lot of things in life that bring untold joy to others so guess what?! I don't waste my time watching/participating in it and then I don't whine about it later! Jason's attitude sucks and it would be like me bringing my ipod to the Super Bowl and never ONCE looking at the game, while complaining that I'm bored by the entire experience. Go. Home. NOW!!! if. you. are. so. bored! Create a media frenzy by just announcing that you're "quitting", like contestants did on America's Next Top Model. Show some respect, Jason, and quit taking up space for people who DO want to participate. I no longer admire you.

59. I think it would benefit him A LOT more to NOT win American Idol.. most American Idols aren't even successful. Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood were about the only successful ones and Kelly Clarkson later admitted she HATED that American Idol pretty much owns her from here on out. Look at Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry look at their success.. and then look at past winners and THEIR success.. Ruben Studdard, Taylor Hicks, Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barino, etc.. they were all real good on idol but look where they are now.. nowhere! Jason will go on to be the next Jack Johnson.. he has an amazing voice and he's not a stoner, he just happens to be laid back and relaxed.. is that REALLY so bad? Isn't it horrible of people to judge someone who's laid back and automatically cast them off as a drug addict?

60. Wow-am I the only one who thinks he is completely comfortable in his own skin and really is motivated to make it in the music business on his own terms, singing his own style of music. For those not in the know Jason only started singing in public 2 months before the idol auditions. He is self taught. His genre, prior to idol, was folksy and praise/worship. He is totally laid back and at peace with himself. With that said, I DO think he wants to go home and, after the tour, get started on a career. Before all of this he sang at Lakepointe Church and was attending college. Good luck to the kid whatever he decides to do. To make it this far is pretty wild!
