213. Um, Theresa. Barbara never said she didn't make the affair public prior to now because she didn't want to set a bad example. She has explicitly and in numerous interviews said that she kept it secret because it would ruin both their CAREERS! And she said her only regret in having the affair is that the Senator didn't get re-elected because it was well enough known that he'd had an affair and was going through a divorce. At the time, it just wasn't known that it was Barbara Walters he had an affair with. So she sat back and watched his political career go down the drain because of the affair but she lacked the courage to come out and say that she was the mistress at the time, thus saving her own career. BAH!

214. At least Ms. Walters has lived an interesting life, worth reading about. I have no doubt that her novel will be a best seller! Does Ms Jones or Jones-Reynolds (whatever she goes by these days) have anything in her portfolio that can even come close to being interesting in print? So she is a lawyer, big deal. What famous clients has she ever represented? All I ever have seen her do it be a big mouth on The View, and didnt she have a failed talk show as well? Ms. Walters was one of the first women to broadcast national news, and she has intereviewed more well known people in her lifetime than most reporters ever manage to do. If history makes note of this kind of thing, most people in the future will recognize the name Barbara Walters, but the name Star Jones will draw a blank forever.

Star jones, or Starlet as she was named when born, is not in a good place right now and she probably should have taken the "hight road" , and not get so nasty in her remarks in response to the few things Miss Walters said about her way of leaving the show and getting on her soap box and making her seems as if she were a tramp, Miss Walters, fell in love, the man was married and although a line I personally would not cross, I will not judge her, we all have done questionalbe thingss in our life that we just would as soon as forget. Plus she told the man in question, and he gave his OK for her to mention it in her book, hey at least she gave the man and his family a heads up, and I'm sure his present wife was aware of what happened over 30 years ago.
Get over yourself Star, maybe someone will hire you again , but theyb way you place yourself in the postion of victem is appalling. You're just po'd that she officially outed you about your operation etc...and said nothing about the man you kmarried, etc...what was it exactly she said aoubt you that was untrue and after all that happened, she was amazingly kind about what she did say and in the way she said it. With such forgivness and understanding of your situation at that time and of the one you find yourself in now.
Star everything she said about how we the viewers felt about your lie about the surgery and your greed you displayed in the build up to your marriage, none of what was said was a lie, not about how we changed in our feelings for you.
Try to listen, you are getting great feed back in what you need to do to get back in the good graces of the viewing public.

216. Star may have lost a ton of weight but she's still a Narcisstic Pig. I stopped watching The View when she was on because at least once a day she brought up the fact that she is a Lawyer. She finally got a gay guy to marry her so she could pimp a big wedding and get lots of loot. She's funny looking with the frog eyes and the eyebrows drawn on nearly to her hairline. Barbara Walters told her guy of over 30 years ago about her book. If he didn't care, why should we? Star is just jealous because no man in his right mind would ever have an affair with her. Star has admitted she doesn't want children because she is too self-centered. Amen.

I'm not too fond of Star myself, but Barbara Walters is doing ALL she can do to sell a book.

Why does she have to say things about people that are nasty ?? Sen. Edward Brook's family must be pretty upset with this. I understand she called him and told him it was about to happen....before the book came out. How nice of her.

Rosie O'Donnell just got a new gig on The Today Show at the 2:00 afternoon slot......I don't even know if she has been on yet and now Barbara is saying bad things about Rosie too. Not too good of her to do that either.

When she is on The View.....she talks and talks and talks and most of the time you can't understand a word she is trying to say. She most definitely monopolizes the girl's conversations.....it is so easy to see they try to speed her up and are openly embarrassed by it.

We all get older.....but why oh why did Barbara have to do this ? She certainly has enough money to retire on....or at least I would think so.

It's just a shame....a real shame.

219. Is it really so hard for some of you to understand why Barbara wrote such a revealing book ? She is a 78(?)-year-old icon who has been in the public eye all of her adult life. At 78, you start to see the end of the tunnel. Many of her close friend have died in recent years and she knows her time is likely not far off. SHE wrote about her life because if she hadn't, someone else would(and inaccurately), Apparently none of you read books. Bios ALWAYS contain info re: affairs. Nearly EVERY American President had affairs, including your beloved Thomas Jefferson with his slave Sally Hemmings; FDR, as well as lesbian wife Eleanor; the list id endless. How do we know these things? BIOGRAPHIES. So Babs wrote about her own life in her aurtobiography before someone else did so. The ridiculous comments on this site are the result of a semiliterate society. As for Miss Piggy Star Joines, she TOO wrote an autogbiography replete with LIES about everything from her weight loss to her "blissfully happy" marriage and "awsome" sex life with her gay husband. At least Babs was HONEST in her bio, something Star couldn't do even if we threatened to take away her next meal.

Barabara Walters just proved that she is a slut a home wrecker and and adulterer, which is far worse than revealing someones gastric bypass surgery. 222. Barbara stated on Oprah's show that she agreed to "lie" when Star's contract was not renewed. Barbara and the crew told Star Jones that they would go along with whatever "story" she wanted told. To Barbara's surprise....Star must have been a bit disturbed that she was being fired....yeah....not renewing a contract more or less is fired.

SO....since when is "telling whatever story Star wanted told and going along with it".......NOT TELLING MORE LIES....Barbara ???

Honestly....it just seems like you are hurting people. I understand selling a book is all about just that....attempting to sell a book....BUT why can't you exit this Earth gracefully and with dignity that you HAD, yes HAD.....BEFORE you decided to trash yourself ??

I watch The View faithfully.....I must say I am a bit disappointed in Joy, Whoppi, Sherri and Elizabeth for fondling all over you in helping you promote this book. Whoppi wiped some "brown" off of Sherri's nose the other day when she was fondling all over Barbara as if to say she was a "brown noser".....Well...I don't want to say the other girls are...but why won't any of them say anything negative to her if they think what she is doing is wrong ? Are they afraid they will be the next to be axed from The View if they speak a note of disapproval about Barbara ??

It really makes you wonder. I love all of the girls...truly I do. Each for being their own individual person. The show is wonderful and very educational. Believe it or not, it is getting a lot more MEN viewers than ever before.

It would have been nice to not have yucky feelings now in the pit of my stomach when I turn it on.....yes, because of the Barbara Walters book, tales, interviews, etc. It just doesn't feel like the "classy show" it once did before she "trashed it"....

I am sorry....but that's just the way I feel.

225. I think it was tacky of Babs to reveal the affair. I remember when she was hanging around with him, and we THOUGHT she was having an affair. Maybe this was AFTER he left his then wife. She was seen with him socially a lot, nevertheless. How would I feel if my DAD had a girlfriend while married to my Mama, then the Hostess HoHO goes and puts this FACT in a book. What about his grown kids, and his Grandchhildren ? I think it makes her no better that Spitzer's tramp. It is bad enough she had the affair, then cannot even say she "loved" him, but was only infatuated. Then to say she couldn't go on because of his race, etc. So tawdry, so terribly LOW. I still love The View, too, because it is fun and interesting enough to TIVO, however Babs did NOT have to hurt others. The STAR FIGHT is another matter. Star made her own bed, including all the wedding bling for free, and her BS book. Love you all, have a nice evening !
