Babwa Fwip Fwops on Star

Barbara Walters played dumb -- or took the high road, depending on how you look at it -- when our camera guy asked her about her bitchfight with Star Jones.

78. I am so dissappointed with Barbara. The fact that she would stoop that low as to right a book with that stuff in it and you know thats why she did it. She could have gone down in history as a very well respected gournalist...now this.
The view had real potential. I think its just like Jerry Springer now..
Im just as dissapoointed in Rosie...She tells people on tv... on no my kids dont watch tv... talking about hos they have better things to do.. but there she is.. on tv with two kids, she proclaims is in some kind of club of her...but, she doesnt know thier names...
People...who care?
There are starving children in the world..

79. The guy asking the question sounds ignorant. And, should show more respect by calling her "Ms. Walters" not simply "Barbara". I'm sure she's a lot older than he is and they're not personal friends. He should therefore, show her more respect.

80. "Always a lady" my backside. I knew she was a phony. Now we know she committed adultery as well. A Lady? HA,HA, HA! IN FACT SHE WAS MERELY ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE LIBERAL LEFT WING HAGS.

81. Walter's adultery is absolutely repugnant to me; adultery always is..... The fact she revealed this in order to sell books totally baffles me. Its not the money, 'cause she has more than she can spend. It HAS to be the numbers! And she was promoting herself, her book, weeks in advance on her show and that was every bit as bad as Star ever did! That man must have had family and if you're going to keep it quiet all these years, then don't bring it up 30 yrs later! There are many who just didn't need to know that. It alters my opninon of her, although, that has never been that great... HER REVELATION JUST MAKES ME WONDER WHO ELSE SHE SCREWED TO GET WHERE SHE WAS IN HER CAREER !!!! Maybe THAT was why Harry Reasoner didn't like her, she was immoral !!! No wonder her daughter got into trouble! Her mom was screwing around, with God knows who or how many, and that kind of behavior affects children. And then what's Barbara's answer to a troubled child? SHIP HER OFF !! I'm glad her daughter harbors no ill will. When she has her own children, she'll understand, but I'll bet she doesn't ship the kid off !

82. I still respect Barbara Walters. As a woman who has made mistakes in my own life, I know that it takes courage for one to very openly stand up and admit his/her mistakes. It is not saying that affairs are cool, but it is saying that she is every bit as human as any of us. Some people might not have slept with a married person, but every single one of us has at least one skeleton in our closet that we would be too ashamed or fearful of to talk about.

We live in a country where men are still praised, to some degree, for having affairs. They are for the most part forgiven after time, and those who have had affairs still have a good amount of success in their lives. Women who admit t affairs, however, are often berated and badmouthed to the point that their lives are miserable. They are called names and not respected. Forgiveness is less quick and less prevailing for females who admit to having an affair. So, a woman coming out to admit an affair in our society that is still filled with double standards is pretty courageous. It doesn't make the affair right, but it does take a lot to admit to it.

When a person comes out over theirty years after something has taken place, I often feel that the person today is not the same person they were 30 years ago. Their life situation has changed drastically, and my judging them for that past is really pointless. As somebody who has made mistakes, I can't judge another for opening up about making a mistake. That is really hypocrisy at its finest. Jesus had a lot to say about forgiveness and also hypocrisy, so I am not going to fall into the trap of being so rigid that I can't see beyond human error or sin.

83. An Open Letter to Barbara Walters:

I think your memoir is an embarrassment and only adds to the steadily dwindling public opinion of someone who was once the Queen of television journalism. It's hypocritical for someone who says they had to fight sexism to get where they are to openly brag about their personal lives in a way that is demeaning to all women in the workforce.

As a woman, I think your book and your comments in the media about others say more about you than them, but as a professional, I'd like to point out that Walter Cronkite, or even Tom Brokaw, for that matter, would never write about themselves in such a trashy, tabloid fashion.

I'm not a celebrity, but I was once an admirer. I believe it's time to stop talking, stop writing about others and do your job and shut up.

84. Not surprised that BW had an affair. Little surprised she told all in a book.

Sounds like she may think people "look up" to women that have had affiars? Why would she think we would condone what she's done?

Is it due to the way people respond to men having affairs?

It's still a man's world. She should know people won't cut her the same slack.

87. I have made a lot of mistakes in my life, thankfully in the past, I'm not perfect, I'm not jesus, but everyday I show courage by recognising the wrongs I've done, confessing them to God, and turning from them. Courage is not shouting out your sins from roof tops. Courage.... how is this courage??

88. "Always the lady" -- my ass. A LADY would have gone to her grave with the info about Senator Brooke and would have had no comment on her "friends" and the "nothing but good things to say about Star" hardly sounded like that on O. This woman could have graciously drifted into the sunset with DIGNITY as she SAID she offered Star. But because of money (a PORTION going to charity - WHAT portion?) she has sold her once honorable soul for the yellow journalism she claims to detest. Oi vey.

89. I read that Senator Brooke was quoted as saying, when asked about Barbara's book, that he never commented about his or anyone else's personal lives. Now that's CLASSY. She did NOT have to include this excerpt in the book - feel fully she did it for the sensational effect - for the money - for the ratings. She HAD a legacy already - why detract from it by outing this man? I don't like Star Jones in any way, shape or form. But she is a little more predictable in whoring herself out. I would never have associated Barbara with this sort of behavior -- so disappointed in her not for the affair(s?) but for kissing and telling. SO MUCH ELSE to reveal about this long, full life. Rosie's got them all beat in the class department.
