Slap on the wrist is putting it lightly. He shoulda been strapped in a car and mangled like "his best bud" - eye for a freakin' eye, baby. I hold the parents mainly responsible for raising him to think that it's OK to thumb your nose at the law that the rest of us abide by.

Another celebrity gets a slap on the wrist. Ok, so the passenger wasn't wearing a seat belt, but Nick (THE DRIVER) made the conscious choice to race like a dumbass. Also, everyone out there knows that had it been you or me driving we would've gotten the full sentence and lost our driver's license for a really long time. That prick Hogan showed no remorse whatsover and neither did his family. You all should check out the DVD STREET RACING LUNATICS. It features all the Hogans street racing. It even shows Linda, with Brooke in the passenger seat in their Mercedes street racing. Then Linda goes on to say that she loves illegal street racing, that she loves the thrill of going fast and running from the cops. She's denied that she said of course, must be a blonde moment or all that botox that went to the brain. This family sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree Law2003... everyone is quick to point fingers at Nick, and although Nick was in the wrong, yes, so was John!!! John is not as "innocent" as everyone is making him out... he chose to ride with Nick, he chose to not wear his seat belt, he chose to put himself in that position knowing what Nick was like. I think that John is just as much as guilty as Nick and that his family is just seeing this as a prime opportunity to use this as a "get rich quick" scheme!!! Both families obviously are hurting and have lost someone very dear to them. Was Nick in the wrong here? YES. Was John in the wrong here? YES. It is NOT all about Nick guys... Not to mention, this is very much his parents fault. If he was raised with his parents being all about speed and such, then that is obviously the same lesson he is learning and he is obviously going to recreate what he has learned. That's like saying "Son, don't drink, now go get me a beer out of the fridge." Children/Teens learn by example and sadly, his example was not the best and now he is the one paying the price!!! It's a sad sad situation all around for everyone involved. Quit blaming Nick and look at the bigger picture of who all is guilty in this situation. There is so much more to this then "Nick"!!!!!

It is offensive that some posters seem to actually believe (and seem to relish) that Nick Hogan should be sexually molested while he does his 8 months in jail. That's sick and unjustified. He should be punished for his actions, but that does not mean that sexual torture should be part of the punishment. He is not a child molester. He is not a sexual sadist.
Why would anyone express such glee in hoping that Nick Hogan (or anyone not even accused of a sexual crime) should be sexually violated in such a way? That's not funny, it's sick and depraved.
Laughing and hoping that this young man get viciously violated is no better than watching and betting on dog fights, while relishing every bite, broken bone and squeal of pain while the weaker animal painfully dies in a filthy ring filled with blood and feces.

Unbelievable, first Lohan, Hilton,Spears and once again a celeb kid gets a slap on the wrist! When is enough , enough? I am sorry but the law is different if you have money or fame. Justice isn't blind, it's mentally handicapped!!! I think Nick should have been tried as an adult, given the max penalty across the board.

Y'all don't get the simple fact that a PASSENGER can not be charged for being STUPID! Yes, John was stupid being involved in the drag race. But get this, the DRIVER OWNS THE RESPONSIBILITY while operating a motor vehicle on THE PUBLIC ROADWAY where many INNOCENT people's lives were put at risk that day.
Get off the John has some blame to this! In other words, had NICK OBEYED the LAW of the ROADS, John would not be in a F'NG COMA!!!!

Wow, john's brother seems to be an even bigger meathead idiot than the hulk himself...and the judge clearly got caught up in the limelight and wanted his 15 mins of fame, any other minor (nonceleb) would have got off the hook w/ 5 yrs probation, some community service, and liscense revoked..and although nick was in the wrong, john should be held accountable for his idiotic actions. getting in the passenger seat with a drunk driver - real smart buddy..this case makes a mockery out of the criminal justice system..just goes to show you that if your famous, you get the shaft 100 times worse than if you'r e a joe shmoe

I pity your 3 kids and the way you justify completely WRONG behavior. Keep raising your kids with that type of attitude and it won't long until YOU'RE in court, defending them against the very same type of thing and crying that, it wasn't their fault. Further, Nick only apologized TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME because he had no choice. It wasn't a voluntary & sincere apology to the family. I don't change my name, it would defeat my purpose, oh wait, I did once because two people were fighting over the name Ledbetter, so I made a post saying that I like Pearl Jam too, and changed my name to Yellow Ledbetter for that post. But I have nothing to hide when I post.
And just so you don't get confused anymore.. I agree with the sentence, I think it was fair and just. People need to stop saying john was at fault because he chose to get in the car. Doesn't matter the driver the one who is responsible period!

Do you all think the Judge should have just disregarded Nick's driving record? His repeated stops with tickets and/or warnings?
