106. ref: wikipedia
On February 8, 2007, he was ticketed in Dade County, Florida for driving 57 mph in a 30 mph zone, and on April 25, 2007, he was ticketed and received four points on his license for driving 106 mph in a 70 mph zone in Osceola County.[12] On August 10, 2007, he was ticketed in Pinellas Park after his 1998 Toyota was recorded going 82 mph in a 45 mph construction zone.

16 days later Johns in a coma!

Why oh why did the parents allow him to keep that car on the road? And why oh why wasn't his liscense suspended? Not sure if that would have kept him off the roads though. Hulk should have taken those keys and bought him a Yugo or something!!!

107. Nick got off easy. Anyone who blames the passengers for this needs to have therapy. Theres only one place to put the blame and thats on Nick. Maybe the county jail will mature this spoiled kid. While I watched the decision, I felt sick when Hulk made mention that his family was in agony. Im sure his family would be in agony if they had to visit Nick in the hospital instead of the jail. I didnt see much pain on Hulks' or Brooks' face in the past few months while they were playing with the rich and famous, going on shopping spree's and enjoying the attention at a parade. If Hulk calls that agony then he doesnt know the meaning of the word. I think the only agony he will feel over this whole matter is when and if he has to write a check because the victim wins more then the insurance coverage.

108. Dear Nick, You did the right thing. Dont listen to negative nonsence. There is alot of people out in this world now who have had an experience like yours. It happens to alot of people. Dont let it ruin you. Take it to God and your family. God knows all. Your mom loves you and looks real hurt for you. BE STRONG. God bless you Hogan,s and John,s mother and sister and girl friend also.

109. The lack of class and intelligence of half of the people who have added comments on this is ridiculous. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but I wish that there was a required minimum IQ before a person could add comments to this site. Nick did get a reasonable punishment for the crime committed. You have to remember that he is going to be on probation for 5 years!! He is not going to be able to do ANYTHING wrong for the next 5 years or he is going to go back to jail, plus he does not have a criminal history! Anybody who is a parent out there, can you honestly say that you would agree with your son being sent to prison for years on a first time offense? I know that a man what critically injured because of Nick's actions, but that brings up my final point. I have not read an entry on this subject yet where some one has mentioned Nick's most severe punishment, his conscience! John was Nick's best friend. The kid is just 17 years old and I don't care what any of you say, this is weighing heavily on him! I know he did not show any emotion in the court room today, but that does not mean that he did not feel any! He is a young man and is very insecure about breaking down in from of millions of people. Believe me I know I have been in Nick's shoes, and the day I was in court being sentenced I too stood there and fought back my emotions, although they didn't show, I still felt them! And trust me as soon as he gets alone Nick will let the tears flow. The biggest and longest lasting part of Nick's punishment is not what the court impossed, but it is what he it is what is going on in Nick's head. This was his best friend! Don't be an ass and think that what he did isn't weighing on him every single day, and it will for years to come. And I am sure if his friend could speak up he would be the first person to say that nobody forced him to be in that passenger's seat, and that although Nick made a HUGE mistake, there is no reason to ruin 2 people's lives over it. Nick is in the position to be able to learn from this and to hopefully help other kids learn this lesson BEFORE they make the mistake he did. I wish Nick the best of luck. I feel he deserves this time in jail, and I hope he uses this time to deal with some of the major emotional issues that he has going on right now. Then when he gets out I hope he does what he can to help educate young kids about the dangers of driving like an idiot. I also pray for John and his family, I hope for a full recovery, and I also wish them luck in their civil suit, I don't think tens of millions of dollars are deserved, but I do think that the Hogan family does owe them for their grief, and for the costs that they will incur in the future from medical expenses.
But please people, do us all a favor and if you have nothing intelligent to say, just keep it to yourself and don't bother posting it. Just keep it between you and your jobless friends as you sit on the porch drinking beer.

110. WTF You all sound like a bunch of hating assclowns? This guy got eight months jail time , for an auto accident ! And he has to live with the fact, his actions hurt a very good friend for the rest of his life. And is gonna cost both families plenty, financial and emotional. So the way I see it all involved got F--k---d !!! And all you idiots seem to thrive off this or happy about it? WTF?!?!?!?!?!?

111. Even though I think Nick should have gotten alot worse I still thunk his parents should be right beside him, especially Hulk.

112. I'm sorry about what happened to his friend, however, that doesn't negate responsibility from John , he was not wearing his seatbelt. It boils down to that...I have a 17 year old son, and if that were to happen to him, I could not place fault on the driver...Although I don't think Nick used the best judgement. This is what these boys did, multiple times. Unfortunately it didn't have the outcome as the times before. I pray that Nick has learned a valuable lesson, and wish him all the best...

113. John is just as guilty of bad judgement. Im sure Nick didn't force John into the car.
John was most likely egging Nick on.

115. A drunk driver killed my brother at the age of 21 and guess who was the driver? My/our uncle yes it was a family member that was behind the wheel that killed my brother. My brother was the front passenger and our uncle was the drunk behind the wheel. He was sent to jail right away no it’s ands or buts. This happen in the late 80’s.

Nicks license should be suspended, and 8 months isn't enough... He's still getting away with what he did. Pretty sad how he hasn’t apologized to John family..

116. Very sad, all round, but to all you idiots out there. He is wearing a blue suit, not orange... Meaning, max security, uh, no brown soap. Of course quite obvious, this 'comes'...from people in the expierence dept..he he he, all have beny over, still doing it....Family, my neighbors......

120. How in the world is it the passengers fault? Who cares what he knew. Nick crashed the car not John. With Nick's driving record he should have been sentenced to prison. When someone gets in your car whether they know you've been drinking or not the DRIVER takes responsibility. Give me a break people a human being is laying in a hospital somewhere who fought in a war for you people and you talk trash on him.

Bottom line, NICK is at FAULT for this NOT john!
