Archuleta's Dad Gives Producer Cold Shoulder

Jeff Archuleta, David's dad, showed up in the audience for tonight's "American idol" and made it clear -- he's pissed at the producers.

As we first reported, Jeff was such a troublemaker, he was banned from backstage rehearsals. According to our spies, on tonight's show during commercials, Jeff shot darts at Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe. J.A. stared Nigel down and was enraged as he watched the E.P. visibly excited as David Cook performed.

Jeff seemed chummy with Randy. The two bro'd out during several breaks. He hugged Paula two times and whispered something in her ear and she nodded in agreement. No interaction at all with Simon.

Jeff was trying to get the attention of legendary songwriter Diane Warren, but she pretty much wouldn't give him the time of day.

76. Rocket, the producers were correct in banning you from backstage. The sad thing about all this is, if David A. wins, Dadzilla will claim all the credit. If David A. loses, Dadzilla will blame David. It's a no-win for poor David.

78. Ok, the kid can sing give him his props, but is anyone really going to pay to listen to him for 90 minutes? This is a kid with a good voice but no stage presence and you can't be an entertainer without it and since the dad won't step off, AI needs to do a better job of seeing that it doesn't happen in the first place. If the kid needs his daddy that much, then the kid needs to go home and be with daddy.

Too bad David A is a one trick pony. When he started "dancing" during his 2nd song, I thought of my kid brother pretending he was Elvis in front of his mirror. Granted, he's a cute kid with a good voice (I would NOT call it amazing & no, he cannot sing the phone book either), but daddy dearest has browbeaten him to the point he shows no personality other than looking like a deer in headlights in interviews. In no way does he have "the total package"!

82. This show originally was well produced and fun to watch. It has been sliding down in ratings due to press like this and an overall change in judges perception and it surprises me that people continue to watch. Compared to it beginnings it stinks now and predict it's air time is limited.

86. I think it's really very pitiful what TMZ and you posters are doing. He's a 17 year old boy on a gameshow, and people are downing him. Atleast he's doing something productive with his life! I mean, it really makes me cringe reading some of the stuff that ADULTS post. Are you kidding me? David seems like an intelligent, motivated, good kid. People can make fun of him, hate him because they like David Cook, whatever....But he's this young boy doing amazing things at such an early age. Who wouldn't want a kid like that!?

88. I feel sorry for David A but the kid is not doing something great with his life. He is doing what his FATHER thinks is great with his life. All he does is say what he is told to say. Ever see him struggle for words when asked a simple question? He has to be told how to do everything. I mean he is 17.....I've met more mature 6 year olds. I do feel sorry for the poor kid....having a father like that who needs enemies? His father is treating him like a puppet and a meal ticket and I'm glad he got banished from backstage. For David A future though I think he should get a life and do what he wants to do....otherwise he will need someone (his dad) to tell him what to do every step of the way and never have a thought of his own. He needs to break free. The father is trying to hurry to get him "famous and making money" before he's 18....he'll have no rights to it when David turns 18.....that's why he's so aggressive.

89. You have to wonder why - if the poor kid has been pimped out to every talent show possible by his father - things have not happened for him yet? Stage parents can scare off those that make things happen.
He did not have his best night last night (although I barely listened I find him so boring), but he seems out of his element when he has to sing a song he has not done before.
It really does not matter who wins - I mean I would never buy a David A CD anyway, but would be interested in what David C comes out with.
