"Idol" to Archuleta: Lose the Dad, Carry the 1

David ArchuletaHe's just hours away from performing live in front of millions of people, but 17-year-old "American Idol" wonderboy David Archuleta still has a few problems to work out -- problems of the high school math kind.

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ that David has been with his tutor on the set, gettin' his state-mandated learnin' on.

Looks like a passion for math runs in the Archuleta family. As TMZ first reported, his dad Jeff just got a lesson in subtraction late last week.

David A. can sing, yes........but....David Cook is the star of this year's show....fer sure!...I was sooooo relieved when Carly got the boot....she can also "sing", however, Carly just does not have what it takes to be a STAR...she has absolutely NO class at all...not that many stars do....she just never had "IT"...

43. Interesting. My husband taught both David and his sister and NEVER ONCE saw their dad at any thing school (academically) related, only him mom. But he loves his son, he is an involved parent...yeah involved in a possible paycheck. BOO.
