Celebrity Justice
Washed-Up Rapper Now Locked Up Rapper

Dayum that's a long time! A judge has just sentenced Remy Ma to eight years in the slammer for shooting a woman outside a NYC nightclub. She had faced up to 25 years.
Remy Ma
Remy, whose real name is Reminisce Smith, cried as she heard the sentence, claiming last summer's shooting was an "accident." Her lawyer says he'll appeal.

Adding more ridiculousness to her drama, correction officers at Rikers Island say they called off Remy's weekend wedding at the jail after her fiance, rapper Papoose, tried to sneak in a handcuff key! He was kicked off the island and told he couldn't come back for six months. That's gonna hurt those conjugal visits!

31. Girl Makeda got caught with her fingers in the cookie jar. Your posse don't steal from you. They do, they get shot in the gutz. You know the rules - that's the way it gets played. Thug life, thug justice? Maybe. One thing for sure, it is street, and it is legit. Hang tough Remy Martin.

34. @Dallas

This has nothing to do with Black History Month

@Charlie Cong

Shooting someone over money was not a way of life for Remy Ma nor is it a part of Black culture. Also, don't be fooled - being a "gangster" gets glorified because whites are the majority consumer. They're also behind the record labels and music channels that direct artists to portray that very over-exaggerated lifestyle. Don't get me wrong, we absolutely have to take responsibility for our own actions - it just seems like Black people often have to pay a higher price

The biggest misfortune when it comes to black people doing crime is that heir crime is always associated with the fact that they happen to be black. When a white person (or any other race) commits a crime it's just another news story, no big deal same ol' same ol'. But when a black person gets into trouble it's always somehow realted to our "culture"

EDUCATION IS KEY

39. Oh please @ charlie cang, Remy isnt a teenager. She used her own
judgement not that of her race. Whites do as much if not more crime
than any other race... How can you use a blanket statement speaking
of this and past generations of black people?? You are a racist
,no question about it. You better not be a minortity speaking that
way!!!!! Alot of White kids glorify everthing black, they love
it.Matter of fact they are the biggest rap music supporters. Why dont
you get out from behind the safety of your screen and meet new people
especially blacks and get to know them as people instead of what
you've been taught from tv.....

43. Oh yeah, racism is so dead in this country! That's sarcasm, if you can't tell...

44. For all you people asking that the racism stop...take a look at #29-Mad Love's comment. That is why racism is still alive and thriving in today's culture. Black people HATE white people for something that happened 200 years ago. We were not alive then and neither were our grandparents. Get OVER it! Yes, there are idiots out there that hate just for hate's sake, but there are also intelligent, educated and worldly people out here that are sick of all the crap. "Keeping it real" is shooting someone in the "gutz" if they steal from you? Not only is it against the law, it's stupid. Besides that fact that she is a mother! Once you take the responsibility for another human being, you have to consider your every action and the consequnces those actions bring. It will be a sad day in America when the likes of a man like Barak Obama is nominated for president. And, not because he is a black man, but because he associates himself with man like Rev. White. Once again, another black man spouting ridiculous theories and perpetuating racism. I said it before, and I'll say it again, black people hate white people and electing one of the haters president will be a huge mistake. There have been several intelligent comments and several stupid racist comments, but one thing rings true throughout, education is key! Educate yourself before making such stupid comments Mad Love and Legit.

And, BTW, "street" folks don't cry when they go down, or claim it was an accident.
