Quaid to FDA: Mind Your Own Business!

Hell hath no fury like a father scorned!

After Dennis Quaids' newborn twins were mistakenly given a massive overdose of a blood thinner last November, they sued the drug's manufacturer, Baxter Healthcare Corp., claiming the label on the bottle contributed to the foul-up. Baxter says it's not their problem because the FDA approved it, and they're trying to back out of the lawsuit on a technicality.

Now he's testifying on Capitol Hill today, hoping to prevent other drug companies from weaseling out of similar lawsuits.

32. Folks, the labels are VERY different! Try taking a look at them and then commnet. http://www.injuryboard.com/topic/heparin-blood-thinner.aspx

The hospital staff screwed up. They became to comfortable and didn't take the time to check the labels like they should. This is in no way Baxter's fault.

33. As a Registered Nurse I know the last check on that vial SHOULD have been the nurses administering it.
THEY failed their duty to check, double check and triple check that dose and label prior to giving it. Baxter might have a problem, but the folks that gave it seem far more culpable to me.

34. Just maybe the person who gave the wrong medication was just incompitant and blamed the drug manufacturers to save their job.
