NFL Star: Wal-Mart Left Kids Out in the Cold

Andre JohnsonNFL superstar Andre Johnson claims his charity got stiffed by Wal-Mart -- it all involves water and ice. Yes, ice.

Johnson ordered 750 bicycles to be given to underprivileged kids at an event sponsored by the Andre Johnson Foundation -- in return for the purchase, Wal-Mart agreed to donate water and ice for the May 3 event.

But there was a problem with the order, so Johnson ended up buying fewer bikes than planned. Wal-Mart countered by not giving the water and ice as promised. That's cold.

Wal-Mart is trying to rectify the situation. They tell TMZ, "We are reaching out to the Andre Johnson Foundation as we speak to rectify the situation. It's disappointing that this happened."

48. Typical. Wal-Mart always looks for the slimiest way out-- even worse that it involved young children.
We should all boycott their stores and hit them where it hurts.
"Shame on you once again Wal-Mart...do the right thing--you might actually get some good publicity for a change."

49. It's obvious that Wal-Mart doesn't understand the concept of public relations. Will someone remind them they're a public company and the largest retailer in the world.......and, they couldn't spare some lousy water and ice for a good cause whether bicycles were bought or NOT?

51. This is exactlly why I have boycotted WalMart for many years. The prices are not so low that it makes up for the US jobs lost and cheating their workers (especially women and minorities). My grandfather was a friend of Sam Walton and he NEVER would have tolerated what his company has become. Shameful!

54. Wal-Mart has donated several electronics to the organization I was apart of a couple of years ago. We were never obligated to buy anything. I was apart of a youth organization. What's up Wal-Mart? Is your new policy, "You scratch our backs, we scratch your backs".

For Andre Johnson to pay full price, you should have more than welcome to donate the water and ice. There's no way in hell you would have sold that many bikes other wise. Bad business guys. No wonder your having so many problems.

57. I always go to Target. Target has decent prices, better merchandise and they don't purposely set out to kill the small business person and send all the manufacturing jobs overseas like Wal Mart does. Shop at Target. Shop at Macy's... anywhere but Wal Mart!
