62. Obama associated himself with Rev. Wright for 20 years and claims to not know what Rev. Wright's real thoughts were. If this is true, then he is unfit to become president as it shows his lack of judgement in dealing with people. I myself doubt what he said, he must have known he was dealing with a hateful minister and looked the other way because deep down, he himself must share Rev. Wrights views.

Obama also has William Ayers - US terrorist - as one of his friends. Enough said! Tell me with who you walk and I'll tell you who you are!

When I don't share the views of my friends, I make it clear or I disassociate myself from them! Shouldn't he have done the same?????

64. @ Ann: From experience, I KNOW, not THINK, that you are absolutely correct. The unfortunate thing is, cognitive dissonance is so great in this country - particularly on matters of race - that what you've stated here will, unfortunately, fall on deaf ears. These people see and hear what they want, and no amount of reason, rationale, truth, etc. will change that. This is especially true re: Obama - a Black man with a funny name, a strong wife, with very little of his business put out in the street, but stands on the cusp of becoming this nation's next president. People fear what they don't know and understand, and racism/racial prejudice are phenomena that won't be done away with during our lifetimes. So, Obama can be the salvation of this nation, but all that will get through to the people expressing said cognitive dissonance are the perceived negatives they've come to embrace. In addition, there in an inherent danger that those who are steadfast in their beliefs (however incomplete, bogus, or just plain stupid) are sometimes willing to act on those beliefs without concern for the consequences. That's the downside of having free will sometimes - you can't make people see the truth or think outside the box; heck, you can't make them think, period. (But, I wouldn't want it any other way, where people aren't able to express their opinion and can think the way they choose.)

Ann, you have written an insightful and well-thought out comment in reply to someone else's ignorance - bravo. I only wish that at least one person who agrees with the original purveyor of ignorance, to which his minions have gladly bowed in this post, would take a moment to actually go back and think, read, research, hear, listen, and absorb information in an effort to know the truth for themselves and not rely on a negative heuristic put into play by the closed-minded.
