Will Smith Backs Scientolo-School?

Will Smith gives money to Scientology school? Will Smith has dropped a bunch of money into opening up a new school in Calabasas, according to a report in the National Enquirer.

But we did a little digging, and the New Village Academy's website indicates that one of their models of learning is something called "Study Technology" -- a method created by none other than L. Ron Hubbard. The school also emphasizes the teaching of ethics and survival -- again, big topics in Scientology.

While Smith is not mentioned per se on the school's site, his reps did not deny his involvement. Instead, they gave TMZ the generic, "no comment", when questioned about his involvement in both the school and the Church.

So is he, or isn't he - a Scientologist, that is. According to Big Willy, he's not.

31. Will, you have let me down. You seemed to have an independent intelligent mind. Now we find you are as weak minded as so many other drones. God help your children, and your non scientolocrapology family. You no doubt have broken their hearts.

35. To Baseball Junkie; I totally agree with you. It sounded to me like Ron L. Hubbard was talking about it in a derogatory way. But who knows for sure.... I can't believe intelligent people would believe in something written by a science fiction writer.

37. If Will Smith has become a scientologist, then he is just as stupid as I've always thought he was.

38.
It is well established that scientology feeds funds and members through front groups.
These groups are not always owned by this corporation.
In fact many are run by members whose "staff training" includes scientology courses, others pay scientology a percentage.
This creepy, backhanded and purposefully deceitful way of operating is offensive for those taxpayers who want government funds directed to legitimate sources.

Why is this "organisation" allowed to operate with tax exemptions in our country?

39. The people who pull the strings in $cientology desperately want you to be taken in by their glossy presentations, the slick website, their celebrity centre and the celebrities but regrettably it really is more a case of a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
In fact, celebrities are specifically recruited in an attempt to legitimise this fraud.

Look beneath this facade and quite frankly most of us would be shocked.
The 'ordinary' member of $cientology faces intimidation, threats, personal, emotional and financial distress.

The truth is that $cientology is so much worse than you could imagine.
Scientology is nothing but a sham - a money-making venture masking itself in religious clothing to avoid prosecution, and doing quite well at it, I might add, thanks to their secret deal with the IRS that gives them preferential treatment over any other religion in the US.

And to call this a religion is a injustice of the highest kind.

40. Kristy, I am sorry to have to burst your bubble but Baseball Junkie is entirely right. You may know a nice scientologist but she is nice as a person. That does not make her religion a positive one. I have known people who were, personally, very pleasant people until they started to try to convert me and then became rabid when I refused. If you read scientology's material, they specifically say that it is necessary to disassociate yourself from non-believers as much as possible. They need people like your lawyer acquaintance to run interference between scientology and the real world.

Obviously, Baseball Junkie was not committed to believe in scientology at the time they attempted to recruit her by playing on the natural fears of a college freshman. She is not the only person I have known who had this sort of experience with scientology. They used to make a habit of renting rooms near a college and accosting anyone who looked like a college student and asking them if they wanted to take a free personality test. They tried this on me, too. I looked at it and laughed. The questions were as leading as asking a man, "When did you stop beating your wife?" If you had considered killing yourself once when as a teenager, you were considered to be at high risk and needed to be cleansed (for a price) so that you wouldn't actually do it. How many teenagers haven't, in a fit of despair, said "I wish I were dead. If I kill myself then you'll be sorry. " That doesn't mean they were ever seriously in danger. The questions on their test were so leading and open-ended that if you answered honestly, you were guaranteed to need their help. If you believed that they could help which I never did.

Don't let your nice acquaintance fool you, scientology is a cult. I don't think your friend should be stoned and I doubt Baseball Junkie did either. Stoning is a particular barbaric form of execution however scientology does not deserve its tax-free religious status since it is not a religion.

BTW: Most people consider the mind and brain to be the same thing. If you recheck Baseball Junkie's original post, she said mind and body.

41. Kristy, one day all of us will stand before the one and only Judge. How will you explain this to Him?
I'm begging you... reconsider this craziness. It's your soul we are talking about! Don't fall for this alien nonsense. Jesus was real...He lived. Don't throw away your eternity on this idiotic cult.

44. Kristy, the insecure are precisely who scientology attempts to recruit. They are easier to browbeat. Once they have you in their clutches, they brainwash you and control you. Try finding out about scientology before you start spouting off about it. Your lawyer friend is a front. It is her job to walk around and make scientology seem like a normal religion. John Travolta was doing a reasonably good job of this along with several other celebrities before they made the mistake of recruiting Tom Cruise never having realized what an idiot and loose cannon he was.

Have you asked your lawyer friend about her scientology beliefs? Or didn't you have to because you have already explored it. And just to make it clear to you, I was not "exploring" scientology when I was told I had 5 years to live without their help. They came up to me as I was walking down the street, minding my own business, and played to the natural curiousity of someone who has taken the trouble to go to college to increase their knowledge. Of course, I was intrigued by the idea of a "personality test" but it was full of leading questions, all of them so broad that if you answered them honestly they could prove to you that they were whatever they wanted you to be. And then they had the gall to insist that I needed to buy a copy of "Dianetics". I refused and left. It was a scam. The whole belief system is a scam.

I'm not suggesting scientologists should be killed. Murder is wrong, plain and simple. But if I could think of a way of removing them from this planet's ecosystem in such a way that it would not hurt the planet, the economy or the people that they would leave behind, I would seriously consider it. There are some other cults which should be treated this way but most of them implode on their own. Make no mistake, scientology is dangerous. You will be hard pressed to find anyone, who is not a member and who knows anything at all about it, to defend it. Those of us who have had close encounters with scientology and escaped will always be around to set you straight about it.

Go Sox

45. Kristy, please, Please, PLEASE go learn the truth about scientology before you fall further under its spell. It may not be the most evil cult that has ever existed but it is by far the most insidious.
