Will Smith Backs Scientolo-School?

Will Smith gives money to Scientology school? Will Smith has dropped a bunch of money into opening up a new school in Calabasas, according to a report in the National Enquirer.

But we did a little digging, and the New Village Academy's website indicates that one of their models of learning is something called "Study Technology" -- a method created by none other than L. Ron Hubbard. The school also emphasizes the teaching of ethics and survival -- again, big topics in Scientology.

While Smith is not mentioned per se on the school's site, his reps did not deny his involvement. Instead, they gave TMZ the generic, "no comment", when questioned about his involvement in both the school and the Church.

So is he, or isn't he - a Scientologist, that is. According to Big Willy, he's not.

46. It is documented that Elvis Presley studied many religions and was open to learning about any new religion. He visited the Church of Scientology and came out of the meeting really mad. He was quoted as saying that all they were interested in his money and that it was a load of shit. He never went back or studied the "religion" any further according to his friends. That says a lot if someone who is so open to religion gets turned off in one meeting.

Scientology really scares me and I'm not afraid of much. The things I've read about it are really disconcerting. And who believes a religion that is started by a science fiction writer? I'm disappointed to learn there's a possibility Will Smith belongs to this cult.

47. Will smith is a victom of the cult of Scientology, it is true. However, he has become a source for propogating the vile influence of the Religious Technology Center (Scientologies leadership) For that, there can be no forgiveness. Anonymous is dedicated to removing the influence of the RTC from our society and the liberation of those people who have been brainwashed into being their drones. We will not stop, we will not falter, and we will not fail.

52. That new school is on Las Virgines rd in Calabasas, It used to be Indian Hills High School. A continuation school for High School pot heads. Old Willie lives a few miles away from this place. I read the schools website. Making "world Citizens" while feeding them gormet lunches and traching them in a non stressfull environment. Obviously, Who ever came up with this curicullum never had kids or remembered their own childhood. They are in for a rude surprise when a bunch of spoiled rich brats start causing trouble.........I'd loveto be a fly on the wall atthat "socalled" school.

***

Here's the MAIN issue with this FACTUAL story.

THESE CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE TAUGHT WITH THIS MIND BENDING PARANOID GARBAGE.

At the end of the day, Will Smith, Tom Cruise and any other celebrity completely devoid of reality,
is fostering acceptance of destructive teaching / brain washing techniques.

Academics have pulled all this Hubbard rubbish apart and labelled it tantamount to MIND CONTROL.
Sending children to auditing and the like is
CHILD ABUSE.

There is a website set up by former $cientology children
exscientologykids.com
One of the founding members is the niece of the current leader of $cientology.
She has spoken out about the abusive regime in $cientology schools and 'teaching'.
She was recently interviewed on nightline

GET REAL PEOPLE - WAKE UP

Hubbard who founded $cientology is a proven LIAR, CONMAN, CRIMINAL, PARANOID, DRUG USER.
$cientology has been trying for years to suppress the actual truth about this man -
but with the internet the word is out.

Want some real insight go to youtube and listen to his OWN son interviewed
He was second in command for ten years and helped set up $cientology
THE TRUTH IS $CIENTOLOGY IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY - NOTHING ELSE

55. Scientology is as expected a group much hated by those who would rather see mankind rot in a sea of crime, war and drug abuse. It deserves to be protected form criminals and those who enjoy the failure of others
I'm a Christian not a Scientologist and I wish I could
change this conversation to one about Christianity
but I went to several Scientology web sites
and think that what it has to offer is very much needed in our world.
They do a lot of good
things. I remember reading something in the Katrina news too
about Scientology crews there and John Travolta going around in
a boat to help. I have a lot of respect for John Travolta and
personally am moved by Tom Cruz's passion for what he believes
in. I did notice that no matter how angry they become in their
subject of passion, they don't lower themselves to the level you
have permitted yourselves to sink. But then that is likely normal
ops for you in daily life. You guys are a bunch of bored
computer nerds with too much time on your hands. I don't care
how far fetched a religion seems or how passionate the
members. But what I read so far was positive and actually quiet
admirable. I found a personality test on one of the sites. I'm
tired tonight but I'm going to take it tomorrow. Interesting. Back
off and get a life okay

57. Do you thinkthat dooping childre is a great idea? So many Dr's give out clas II drugs such as aderall and ritalin to "control" them under the mast of a mental illness as ADHD. This is often done on the recomendation from a teacher~! what gives a teacher the right. For those of you who don't understand how dangerous these drugs are google them.

58. Angela, if they actually practiced whatbthey preached perhaps their beliefs would be good ones but it is easy to preach peace, love, reduction in crime, etc. Their method of obtaining these good things is to persuade everybody to follow the dictates of their leaders and ignore individual thought. I'm sure that as an intelligent person you can remember several groups whose leaders claimed that if people followed, them they would achieve prosperity and happiness. Hitler and Kim Jong Il are among them. The actual practices of a group are far more important than their promises.

Librarian; While there is no single definition of "religion" it is usually considered to be system of beliefs which allows its members to live conventional lives within the larger communities with only beneficial effects on its members. A "cult" is defined as an unconventional and extremist belief system which manipulates, controls and exploits its members. By those definitions, Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Shinto, and even, Wicca are religions not cults. There can be subgroups within those religions which fall into cult status but scientology started out as a cult and remains one.

59. To the so called Christian - you seem to be as niave and ignorant of the facts as a scientologist
Why don't you go to Jeus in prayer and ask Him to show you the truth - that is if you are really a Christian
The reason I say that is because scientologists are also liars, are trained to lie, and will lie.
THey will also train your children to do the same, especially if you send them to that school. WIll Smith-FAIL

60. Kristy, we have found some common ground. I, too, am infuriated that the first thing people do when a child has behavioral problems is decide that they are hyperactive or ADHD and start prescribing drugs. Drugs do have a place in the world and do help many people but just because a child is fidgety does not make them hyperactive, it makes them energetic.
I lay the problem, in part, to the overcrowding in the schools. The teachers have to deal with so many students, they don't have the time or energy to deal with what was once considered normal active child. Once, when I was an afterschool teacher. I had a boy in my group who was what I call a "rules lawyer". He followed directions to the letter but bent the meaning as far as he could. I told him to stand against the wall in a time-out. He moved to the wall and then started sidling along it. After all, I hadn't told him he had to stay in one place. I told his mother that afternoon intending it as a compliment to an intelligent child and his mother's response was the maybe she should give the school nurse some of his ritalin so she could give him another dose at lunchtime. I reassured her as quickly as I could but I wished I hadn't said anything.
Then, when my daughter was bored at school and started looking out the windows and at the same time started fighting back at the bullies, they tried to convince my husband and me that she was ADHD and needed drugs. We moved her to a different school with accelerated learning and her behavioral problems disappeared.
You also have to consider the long term effects of ritalin and aderall when the child becomes an adult. I have forgotten the specifics but I remember they can be quite severe.
However, when scientologists say that they only use herbs not drugs to treat their medical problems, they are being disingenuous. All modern drugs were originally developed from herbal treatments. Just one major example is digitalis, a drug that was originally extracted from foxgloves. The herbs that the wise women used to proscribe before modern medicine contained drugs. And if you remember the movie, Medicine Man" with Sean Connery, that is based on the real practices of modern pharmaceutical companies. They send people out into the field and ask the local medicine men how they treat a particular disease and then bring home samples of the plants if they can. One of the South American countries with a large rain forest, I think it was Brazil, has recently made a law to try to prevent researchers from other countries from coming in and taking the plants without giving Brazil a share in any profits that may be made.
