Is Tori Baskin' in 31 Flavors of Bacteria?

Why is Baskin-Robbins trotting out Tori Spelling to push its new line of soft-serve ice cream on other pregnant women when soft-serve is a known taboo for preggo women?

Several sources in the know -- including one pregnant OB/GYN -- tell TMZ that there are "definite" health risks associated with soft-serve ice cream for expectant moms because of Listeria bacteria. Softie machines can be studded with bacteria that can cause all kinds of issues for newborns -- in fact, Down Under, it's pretty much forbidden for preggo women.

B-R tells TMZ in a statement, "Our Soft Serve products are continuously monitored by our suppliers, and our pasteurization process is state inspected and certified on a regular basis. The only way Listeria, which has been found in a variety of raw foods, can be found in soft serve would be through improper pasteurization."

16. The writers on this post are very poor writers. Their words do not make sense, yet are written with an air of authority. This whole site is a JOKE ! And that includes Irene Gracey, the Skinny Person, Jean Summers the cheerleader and proud owner of Sutton's Drug Store, as well as Paris Hilton's Mother, the BS Trophy Wife. Why pick on Tori Spelling ? Because she tempted away someone's husband ? Now, that is as common as apple pie !

18. I'm not a fan of Tori, but what did she ever do to you TMZ? Geez! Leave her alone....save your nastiness for someone more deserving like the Skank-Lohan brothel, I mean family. Or Von A-hole (as you call him). Or Hoff, or Hogan, or Rodman or.......

19. So let's just send Tori to jail for encouraging pregnant women to eat soft serve... how about realizing that the pregnant women may know this entire soft-serve story and will choose not to partake... I'm sure Tori wasn't filmed bending their elbows to eat the stuff. As the majority of pregnant women willl tell you -- EVERYONE has an opinion and has written an article and has done studies about the 5,000,000 things that you cannot do while pregnant... and let me tell you, about 4,500,000 of those finding are just ignorant and wrong... (i.e., can't eat blue cheese for the same reason while pregnant, HEAVEN FORBID). Leave the pregnant broads alone for a change... JEEZ.

21. Suze - "What the hell is WRONG with Candy Spelling, letting her nine month pregnant daughter work at an ice cream parlor this late in her pregnancy? Even poor people would not let this happen to their heavily pregnant daughter."

Sorry honey, but MOST women these days have to hold down a job while they're pregnant. I worked up until three days before I gave birth. And I actually WORKED. I didn't goof around passing out ice cream all day. What she is doing is hardly work.

26. This is not a baloney story. Recently I was in a B-R and ordered a quart of handpacked. The container was half empty from which the icecream was to be taken. I had observed the clerk doing some cleaning in the store and without washing of hands, the clerk dipped inside the container without protective handwear and allowing sleeves of the garment being worn to brush against the inside of the icecream container. I cancelled my order and walked out of the store.

29. Regular soft serve icecream is not off limits to expectant mothers. Only the stuff made with raw eggs is. Most soft serve is not made with raw eggs, only frozen custards are. Most of the soft serve stuff out there isn't even considered ice cream. TMZ should really do thier research instead of grasping at straws for "news" stories on slow days.If soft serve was off limits, listeria would be in the news a hell of a lot more than it is, as soft serve is an expectant mom staple. Wouldn't milk shakes be off limits too?

Posted at 6:48PM on May 21st 2008 by TMZ do your research

30. I gave up dairy products 7 years ago and I haven't had a cold or flu since. That phlegmy feeling you get after eating or drinking dairy products is mucus: a response to the introduction of infection. Doesn't that tell you something?
