Kristi Yamaguchi: Triple Putz
When "DWTS" winner Kristi Yamaguchi said last night she'd never had to think about the position of her feet before, she forgot where ice skates went all those years.
Were those triple salchows just luck?

16. I would like to say that I think Kristi's win was well deserved. I'm a figure skater, and I can say that I think more about my body carriage and where my arms go than my feet. And for those that say figure skating is dancing on ice, you're wrong. Dancing and figure skating are comparable yes, but the same thing? Not at all. I have figure skated for the past 15 years and still skate competitively, not near the level of Kristi though, and do not think I could go out and learn how to ball room dance. Taking dance for skating was more for the balance and flexibilty aspect than anything, and about 90% of the time the dance class was ballet, not ball room dancing. Kristi's win was well deserved.

17. Good for Kristi! She is a champion on and off the ice. PLUS, she was born with clubfoot!

18. That ugly bitch should not have been allowed to compete. The asian judge loved her..wonder why?

19. Professional dancers still do a better job. I wanna see Britney do Dancing with the Stars.

20. I think TMZ owes Kristi an apology and retraction - get a grip.... skating and dancing are not the same. Besides, it's supposed to be a fun reality show, why are you so critical of the contestants???

21. Actually Kristy Yamaguchi was the junior WORLD PAIRS CHAMPIOM with Rudy Galindo (openly gay figure skater) in 1988 and won two national champs with him in 1989 and 1990. Look her up! It's all fact and it is so obvious TMZ! I don't know why this doesn't come up! She has definately worked with a partner before! Pairs skating requires you to be in complete sinc with each other, lifts --lots of things that would apply to ballroom dancing.

22. By the way, the Junior level in figure skating is just one level below the senior, which is the level of competition at the Olympics. It's not easy stuff!

23. I just did more research --- she was the senior national champ in pairs figure skating for two years with Rudy Galindo. That means they were the BEST PAIRS SKATERS IN THE COUNTRY. I don't know, that's a bit more than dabbling, and she certainly has experience working with a partner.

24. I was in figure skating for 10 years. (I tested to intermediate level in USFSA.) And, I was a professional as I taught lessons (got paid for it) & judged tests. I think figure skating ability is a huge advantage in ballroom dancing. Obviously being an athlete of any sort is an advantage, but I think figure skating much more so --- you need to memorize a routine, stay in unison with a partner (as in pair skating for which Kristy is a former national champion) and interact with an audience as it relates to music. Ringer, yes, I think so.

25. Kristi, and the show producers, would like the world to forget that Figure Skating used to be called ICE DANCING, Penn had it right from week one, she spent her entire life DANCING, and was a world champion {which was all amateur} until Stars on Ice which was Professional Ice DANCING

26. SHE HAS BEEN A DANCER SINCE SHE WAS APPROX 3 TO 4 YEARS OLD TAKING BALLET LESSONS THAN SKATING FOR YEARS AND YEARS...
SHE *********** DID NOT DESERVE THE TROPHY AT ALL *******************. I ALWAYS BELIEVED AND ALOT OF OTHERS SAID DANCING WITH THE STARS ARE THOSE CHOSEN THAT **HAS NO EXPERIENCE**.
I AM VERY UPSET WITH THIS DECISION..... THAT'S WHY SHE SCORED 30 ON ALL DANCERS... DOES THAT PROVE TO ALL OF YOU JUDGES OF DANCING WITH THE STARS THAT U HAD CHOSEN SOMEONE THAT KNEW HOW TO DANCE,.... MAN, NEXT TIME CHOOSE PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT SKATERS.... OR HAD BALLERINA DANCE WHILE THEY WERE YOUNG...

27. #12 - ************* I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENT... SHE DID NOT DESERVE TO DANCE WITH DANCING WITH STARS... SHE KNOWS HOW TO DANCE ALREADY.... BAD MOVE ON WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE TO CHOOSE THOSE DANCERS... SHAME SHAME AND SHAME ON WHOEVER MADE THAT CHOICE ...

28. Kristi is a great dancer, and so she should be. She is a professional. That's not what the show is supposed to be about.
It should be a level playing field for all and she came in light years ahead of all others. That is not a fair competition.
