Your Tax Dollars at Work

Who needs to worry about having the highest gas prices in history when you can get some free Cheesecake Brownie ice cream?

Despite an economy in turmoil, the ONE campaign held an ice cream social yesterday, during work hours, to thank members of Congress for passing legislation that will help to make poverty history. Know another way Congress could help make poverty history? By actually working!

1. I think we need to form our own US gov. oil company. It sounds a bit comunist, but the oil companies, and OPEC, have formed a cartel, which is illegal in the US. They have no competition, so lets use huge taxes on oil to form our own gov. oil company that is for the people. We already have city water and sewage, city snow plowing, gov. owned structures, so lets employ alot of americans and directly compete with these oil companies, and OPEC, to see if a little competition can help drive down these ridiculous prices.

2. FObigoil,

Leave it to the uneducated in this country to make such bonehead remarks. Guessing from your commentary, you are a communist, or lack any real education. If, by some remarkable miracle, you have a 401K or own ANY investments, chances are, you OWN a part of Big oil. The billions in revenues they release each quater are funding YOUR retirement! But if you're more interested in the government funding your retirement...check out how well social security is doing.

In conclusion...you take the free market out of the equation, and our economy goes to pot. Read a book!

5. The sleazeballs at Ben & Jerry's make a fast buck off "poverty" and the losers in Congess waste their time with a marketing scam.

This is all about the money for Ben & Jerry's, and all about SKIPPING WORK for these congresspeople.

Government workers work less than anyone on earth.

6. they don't want poverty to go away. so it never will. the rich with always get richer and the poor will always get poorer, and the price of oil will not be going down anytime soon. :(

7. I am abit more educated than most, and my investments have been attaining meager gains. I'm not saying go communist, just put oil under the gov. control. We do it with water, sewage, etc.. My point is; big oil has formed a cartel, so has OPEC, and they have done away with any competition. They say it is because of supply and demand, but anyone can see they demand for any of their supply. Big oil needs competition and I say we tax the hell out of them to raise funds for US Oil company. Natural gas is going the same way. Thanks alot to Cheny and GW for selling this great nation to energy companies.

Vote out all of congress!
They don't buy their own gas tax payers do!
