In a move totally out of character, Tom Cruise has sicked his lawyers on luxury baby boutique Petit Tresor, accusing them of babbling to the tabs about Suri's outrageously expensive designer Scientoloduds.

According to the cease and desist letter sent by Cruise's law firm, the store leaked false info that Suri's parents dropped a cool $350 - $400K on the tot's wardrobe over the last two years. Tom and Katie's mouthpieces claim the store violated their clients' right of privacy.

The lawyers are asking the store to, "not say anything (whether true or false) about Mr. Cruise and Ms. Holmes' shopping habits."

When TMZ spoke to Petit's Andy Behrman all we got was, "Are we allowed to comment?"

106. "If you think that is a DEMAND, wow. Yet you believe you know enough about Tom to have him committed, though you don't know him personally nor likely ever met him. Contrast that opinion with the legions of praises from those that actually know Tom and have worked with him (e.g., Will Smith, Dustin Hoffman, Penelope Cruz, Sidney Pollock, Zellweger, Robert Redford, Ben Stiller, Jamie Fox, etc.).

My law degree, which I recieved over 20 years agpo, is from one of the top law schools in the nation and I don' think, I KNOW, that it s a cease and desist letter. It offers a litany df nonsensical rights that have purportedly been violations of rights and asks the store to cease. The term "demand" is commonly applied to such correspondence.

As for my opinon that Mr. Cruise needs mental health care, I fully stand by it. I don't need to be personally acquainted with a rotten egg to know that it emits a foul odor. Nor do I need to be personally acquainted with Mr.Cruise to know that his behavior over the last two years evidences a man frighteningly out of touch with reality. It is seen not only in interviews with Matt Lauer and others, but in the multitude of Internet footage showing other irrational rants. It takes an incredibly supportive interviewer (like Oprah) asking incredibly soft-ball, nonthreatening questions, in order for him to keep from publicly losing his temper over things that don't even concern him (Brook Shields' depression!!!???). That the only people you can point to as supporters are a few fellow stars is instructive (and by the way, what exactly would you EXPECT those stars to say). Yet I see Cruz got as far away from him as possible oince she recognized he was merely trying to use her in his "fake relationship" PR campaign. But since you wish to use famous names as evidence, what about Sumner Redstone, whose own wife urged him to break business ties with Cruise because of his continued irrational public behavior. Redstone has said that was the final straw, since he saw his wife's opinion (and those of her friends) as being indicative of what the general public was likely thinking.). No matter how you or Mr. Cruise's PR team wish to spin things, the average man and woman (those NOT living in a Hollywood fishbowl) KNOW that his behavior is not the norm. And to now send cease and desist letters to a store, rather than doing what a NORMAL person would do, which is simply STOP shopping there, again reveals how far removed this man is from reality.

107. I just wanna know why that baby girl is still given a bottle? Mom and Dad should take that thing away already. My daughter is a few days younger than Suri and has been off the bottle for over a year now. Come on Mom and Dad, it's not good for poor Suri's teeth!

108. Sorry, trying to post and work at the same time . Should have read: "a litany df nonsensical actions that have purportedly been violations of rights."

Penelope on Tom:

http://www.hollywood.com/news/Cruz_Defends_Cruise/3549082

"I can only say good things about Tom. I know him pretty well, so I know what I'm talking about.

"Tom and I are good friends and in many ways he's shown me to have a kind heart.

Sumner Redstone said he never fired Cruise, despite what the media repeats over and over. And he wants to work with Tom again.

110. Sumner Redstone on Tom Cruise (May 2008):

"I consider Tom Cruise a great actor and a good friend,"

On the so-called firing (March 2007)

"He's a great, great actor – one of the best. He was a great friend. And I look forward to being his friend again."

"I didn't know anything was going to be so explosive," he said. "What happened was, I just gave an interview to the Wall Street Journal. In the course of it, they asked me what was going on. I said, you know, he would no longer be in the lot. They treated that like I was firing him. I didn't fire him! I had nothing to do with it. But they treated it explosively. And I didn't like it."

111. Mike:

well said. Let them be. They look like a loving family. Suri is beautiful. People disagree with his beliefs and make the rest up as they go alone...very sad!

112. This is typical gang behavior by the Cruise family, the only difference being that they are using lawyers to play the thugs (some would say there is no difference) to threaten and intimidate people.

Go back to your crazy cult and stop threatening people. They can publish whatever they want about their store sales you retarded alien freaks!

113. Kristy - I agree completely!

114. "Using lawyers is like gang behavior"

Ok I'll bite...if that is true than every insurance company that has a claim filed against them is "like a cult". Not only do they use Attys but PI's, and they will mitigate until the end of time.

DENY>DELAY>DEFEND even if they are dead wrong! They try to ruin the plaintiff, even if their client ( meaning the insurance company) is Dead on guilty!

What a redicilous remark. We have Attys for that purpose.......

115. I don't know too much about Scientology but if Katie thinks or says anything bad about L Ron Hubbard will she have to take so much niacin that she gets violently ill and never does anything like that again?

116. It is noones business how much they spend on Suri's clothes, they are "working" individuals who do not ask for anyone to dress, feed, and put a roof over their child. If I had the money like they do I would spend it on my children, hey, in a heart beat. NOW, if it was a case of those individuals who are asking the state to feed, clothe and provide shelter for their children because they cannot or refuse to and require the government to do so then YES!!!! its our business. Leave Suri, alone!!!

117. It takes alot of money to make the perfect family to be put on display for the whole world to view as perfect. My question is, why must they try so hard to present that image to the world? Why aren't they ever just kickin it in jeans and t like the rest of the world does? It is because it is all a make believe world that Tom has created to keep his leading man status so he can make the big money so he can spend $400,000 on a 2 year olds clothes! But why??? It's ridiculous and now that the dollar amount is out there, it shows how ridiculous it is and that is why Tom is mad and threatening legal action. Those that are defending him, c'mon...really think about what you could do to change your life with $400,000!!! Would you REALLY spend it on a 2 year old's clothes? Of course you wouldn't! But I will say:And can we all give a collective "AMEN!" to Nicole Kidman? Because, after all, it was her one single decision to back out of the film Mr. & Mrs. Smith that was the first Domino to fall and start this whole darn thing in the first place! So God Bless her and Keith Urban and their soon to be bundle of Joy because without her and that single decision, we would be living in some horrific alternate universe where there was no Brangelina and maybe...just maybe...there would still be Brad and Jennifer wasting away in Hlloywoodville...getting tans...making a movie or two....but no BRANGELINA! My Lord...what would we all do? I, for one, couldn't be happier if it were me!

118. #106, your argument would be better if it were grammatically correct and spell checked. It is some of the worst bit of writing on this string although I doubt you are amongst the least literate. The illiterate, I wouldn't even waste a post on.

119. We now know a bit more of the truth. As I suspected and stated in an earlier post (post #85), the only scenario that makes any sense at all is if Tom and Katie spent way less. Well according to the store's owner Samantha Winch, that's exactly the case:

"Winch said that Cruise and Holmes have spent significantly less than the reported amount."
