Daughter of Christian Singer Chapman Killed

The five-year-old daughter of Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman was killed last night when a car apparently driven by one of her older brothers hit her in the Chapman family's driveway.

In what local police are calling a "terrible accident," Maria Chapman was playing in the driveway when she was struck by a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by one of Chapman's teenage sons. The police did not identify the driver, according to The Tennessean.

A statement on Chapman's website says, "Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there." Maria was the youngest of the Chapman's six children.

47. What a tragedy for everyone. That poor son--how will he ever move on from this? I hope he can realize that it was an accident-and unfortunately, tragic accidents like this do occur.

51. My neighbors child and this one exactly the same way 24hrs. apart. It's hard to always have faith but I couldn't make it without it. FlBiker, I always get through things reminding myself God doesn't give us more then we can handle. We're still here aren't we?

53. TO FIBIKER
SOME OF US REFER TO IT AS "FAITH"
MAYBE YOU SHOULD LEARN SOME OF IT ON YOUR OWN
INVISIBLE OR NOT MANY MORE THAN YOU BELIEVE IN THAT INVISIBLE PERSON IN THE SKY

56. I cannot believe some of the people who have posted on this.
Obviously, you have never lost anyone close to you.
And for those who doubt that God exists, I feel very sad for you.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Chapman family.

57. As a fellow native of Paducah, KY (Where SCC is from) and a friend of the family, my heart is torn to hear of this tragedy. My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to the Chapman family in this time.

The God of All Comfort
2 Corinthians 1:3-9
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

58. Oh my God! I was devastated myself to hear this horrible news ~ I can imagine the family, especially the son that has to live with this terrible tragedy! My heart and prayers go out to this family along with many others. Please Lord, help this family to get through this ~ especially the son of the Chapman family that was in this "accident". Please don't let him take the blame, because it was just that ~ an accident. You will be held up by the hands of God! Please believe this, even if you come to feel that you are hanging on by a thread. Jesus will be there ALL through your sorrow and pain! Easier said than done, but God will not give you more than you can handle. I pray you feel the world joining together to embrace your entire family. God Bless!
