Daughter of Christian Singer Chapman Killed

The five-year-old daughter of Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman was killed last night when a car apparently driven by one of her older brothers hit her in the Chapman family's driveway.

In what local police are calling a "terrible accident," Maria Chapman was playing in the driveway when she was struck by a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by one of Chapman's teenage sons. The police did not identify the driver, according to The Tennessean.

A statement on Chapman's website says, "Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there." Maria was the youngest of the Chapman's six children.

91. ThirstyThursday; The world is not perfect. Bad things happen. Maybe you should read "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" by a very wise Rabbi, Harold Kushner. Faith is what gets us though all of life's problems, big and small. I am Wiccan not Christian but I understand faith and it has given me great comfort many many times. You will not go to hell for your comments. The Great Spirit is not that petty. But I do hope you will come to understand those of us who do have faith and perhaps find some of your own.

94. I will not acknowledge some of the things said here today and suggest the rest of you ignore it as well as they are simply looking for someone to notice them...
I have met SCC and I can tell you he is one of the most kind, loving, rock solid people I have ever met. His heart is huge for all people. He and his work is one of the reasons we chose China when looking to adopt. His faith is large and real. He will not waiver on that because of this. His daughter is with God now and the entire family will need love, support and faith to get through this, but their faith will NOT be shaken.

95. There are so many things that people all over the world want to say to the Chapmans, but no words can ever come close to giving true comfort when a family loses a child. All words fall short. Hugh Prather wrote "Words evolved as a means to express the world around me. Hence their inadequecy to describe what's going on within me." That's how I think many of us who care about the family feel. But we can pray, as many are doing.

The people that take this tragedy lightly aren't to be hated or ridiculed. We need to pray for them too. They just don't know the truth yet. Perhaps as a Christian community we can use this tragedy to recommit ourselves to reaching these lost people. I don't think that the Chapmans would want us to beat these people down.

I for one will use the knowledge of this tragedy as a means to remember to appreciate those around me while they are still here. God bless the Chapmans during this time of sorrow. They WILL be reunited as a family someday.

98. How horrible for this family. They will need to turn to God more than every now for strength. They will be in my prayers today. His son will never forgive himself and I hope that time will heal his heart. What a true tragedy...all the luxuries in life mean nothing when you have lost a child.

102. What a tragic thing. Prayers to the Chapman family with an extra thoughts to the teenaged son. To lose a child, what a horrible thing. A double loss with another child accidentially involved. May His arms enfold you and hold you in this time of great sadness.

103. My prayers are with the Champman family. Such a tragic loss for the family. Our prayers for the brother also. May God be with all of them at this time. May God have each of them under His wings of protection.

To all parents please please keep a very close eye on your small children. This month I have heard of at least 5 or more young children being killed by cars while playing in their own yards. A place that they feel safe. We can not take things for granted, we all need to be extra careful while in our automobiles. It happened just a couple or weeks in my small home town in Louisiana. Several here in the Houston area.
My prayers of God's safety are with each and everyone of you reading this.

For the Chapman family just know that Houston has you in our prayers the listeners of KSBJ will be praying for your family.

105. who saw the episode of southpark where cartman starts a jesus freak music group and makes millions? most of those music groups are hypocrites who just want to appeal to a built in market of religious zelaoats.
this guy however, kinda puts his money where his mouth is, a music group preaching jeses and driving a rolls royce is a hypoctrite. but if its true this guy adopted a bunch of 3rd world poor kids into his own family then i believe he is legit.
