38. Yeah, I think the real story here is who released the tape to the public? Why did they release the tape to the public? and did they get paid for the tape?

I really don't blame TMZ for posting them. Heck thats their job. But I think we need to seriously think about the professionalism of and ethics our penal system.

I think they have every right to record the phone calls and screen them when there is just calls but to release them to the public is another story.

For those who say "he's a convict, he's lost all his rights" thats simply not true. There still should be some human rights given to all convicts. This doesn't mean that we should coddle them. Just that there should be some human decency. If they (convicts) truly don't have any rights then it would be okay to sell nude photos of of them in the shower? I think not. Some things are just wrong and to me it just wrong to release this tape to the public. I could understand if there was some public interest or something. Like if he was talking about some crime or admitted a crime on tape but this is just simply a kid talking to his mother after a traumatic experience. Yes he made a mistake and he should pay a price but this is just wrong.

39. TMZ, why do you want to take an already bad and tragic situation and make it worse? John is brain dead, Nick was found guilty for negligent driving that led to John's injuries, without intent (don't forget that). Now you have to take and broadcast to the world Nicks private conversations with his mother. That is absolutely disgusting. If you (TMZ) gave a rat's behind at all out the condition of John, you guys would not be stooping this low to continually exploit this tradjedy for your own personal gain. Have some decency. I'm not any attorney, and I don't know if this is even remotely possible, but it would be cool if the Hogan family could successfully sue you guys for child abuse because of your purposefully trying to cause extreme emotion distress on a minor.

40. seriously, isn't knowing he left one of his best friends a vegetable for life enough punishment?

my brother in law was at a dealership and decided to let the salesman take him for a test drive. during the test drive, the driver wasn't paying attention and the car ended up getting t-boned. my brother in law died and the driver was left without a scratch. everyone we knew told us we should have sued the dealership or salesman who was driving, but we didn't BECAUSE WE KNEW THAT THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH WHAT HE DID AND THAT IS PUNISHMENT ENOUGH!

this is why they are called ACCIDENTS.

44. Exactly Mel. How have they obtained these tapes? I can't believe they are allowed to publish these regardless of who's being recorded! Very disturbing and if they were obtained illegally, I hope all involved will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
