Murder Rap Won't Stick to Slick Rick

Break out your Cool Water cologne! New York Governor David Paterson has granted a full and unconditional pardon to rapper Slick Rick for the attempted murders of his cousin and another man.

The eyepatched rapper, whose real name is Ricky Walters, served more than five years in the slammer after the 1990 shooting of the two men, who both survived.

The Feds had been trying to deport the UK-born Slick since 2002. The pardon should halt these efforts.

The good gov says the rap star is a good citizen who does volunteer work in his community. For his part Rick says, "I look forward to enjoying this time with my family and friends and to continue leading an honest and productive life."

18. 8. Slick Rick deserves a spot amongst the greatest hip-hop artists of all time. Anyone who thinks rap is just a bunch of n****s talkin, needs to listen to this mans poetry set to music. With all the redundant and frankly washed up artists out there right now ( see: soulja boy, lil wayne, jaz-z, 50, etc.), I would love to see Slick Rick drop another classic album and claim the throne that is rightfully his. The only negative I can say about this man is his show at the FOX in Boulder last year was very sub-par, he just mumbled most of his words and skipped whole bars. I was really dissapointed cause the shows I've seen in NY were just nuts. Ladi-dadi.....

I totally agree...."The Great Adventures of Slick Rick" was among the first rap cassetes I ever bought ( do kids today even remember cassettes?)

"straight and narrow or your soul gets cast.....good night"

19. These are the things we have to look forward to when a Black is in office. Slick rick is a murderer and but lets see how long it takes for him to get in trouble, now that he doesn't have to worry about being deported since he's got a hook up.

21. If you're going to talk trash about him being a thug or bad, at least learn the history of the case before opening your mouth. He basically shot his cousin IN SELF DEFENSE. The man had made at least one attempt on his life and gave him reason to believe he was in imminent danger. Everyone knew it was a BS charge. Rick ALREADY received a pardon from deportation over a decade ago but it was overturned on a technicality. However, our wonderful government always wanted his head as a trophy and did their damndest to deport him. He served a year and a half in federal jail challenging the deportation. Now what were people saying about "favors" or "preferential treatment"? Sounds like he was hunted until someone realized it was BS and like a previous poster said, he's STILL not out of the woods. I'm sure Uncle Sam is good and pissed now and will REALLY try to deport him just to screw with him more.

23. This is great. Once Obama becomes president he can grant blanket pardons to all 1.2 million black dudes in the clink.

24. Racists and cowards go hand in hand. Obama is America's chance to start the healing, from years, centuries, of people that have been the target of racism and and our chance to correct the people who teach their children to hate. Anyone who opens there eyes, ears, or hearts knows racism is as prevelant as ever, Just look at these comments, even if they are in jest they are not funny at all. I don't sympathise with the people who would blame the white man, it's just an excuse, but looking at these posts you wonder if they aren't completely wrong.

25. People always remember this when God got his hand on it you and I can't touch it. Say you can have the finest things in life, but when you die all the finest things is left for your friend and kin folks to fight over.

You can say the rulest and nasty, but when God send for you, you better have ask for forgiviness are you want see the good folks.

And guess what his rap must be good, because my mother turn me on to him.

And now I'm going to hit the youtube.

Say that all my mother ever talk about and she in her 70's.

And check this out the retirees blacks, whites, hispanics, asians, they play their car music louder then the young generations. Have you ever pull up to the gas station and see a 70's year old raping to Tupac, Snoop and Lil' Wayne.
Say he wasn't black I think he were your grandfather.

Keep on with the keeping on
