China Shows Sharon What Karma Really Is

Looks like the Chinese will have to live without Sharon Stone's "Sliver" for a while: The biggest movie chain in China says it's banning her flicks from its screens after she called the horrific earthquakes there "karma" for past abuses.

Ng See-Yuen, head of the UME Cineplex chain, tells the Hollywood Reporter that Stone's ridiculous remarks were "inappropriate" and that actors should not bring personal politics to such a disaster that's killed tens of thousands and left 5 million homeless.

No word on whether the absence of "Last Action Hero" will cause widespread rioting in the streets of Beijing.

63. To all the people who still think "there" should be "their" - you're all a bunch of f-ing morons! They are referring to where the earthquakes occurred... what they didn't use was a little thing called a comma after it.

And now to the idiots who said that she wasn't in Last Action Hero - well, you're just that - idiots. She WAS in it... look it up - IMDB.com

And now to Sharon Stone... a lot of people may disagree with her statement, but last time I checked, everyone in this country had the right to free speech. So what if she said that... who cares??? Are you people really losing sleep over this?

64. I seem to remember someone by the name of Jerry Fawell saying the 9/11 attacks were essentially karma as well. Too bad she can't just keep her big mouth shut and do what she does best, pretend to be a real human being!

65. I can't help but note the EXTREME irony that so many "upstanding citizens" feel the need to defend COMMUNIST China from a celebrity's comments, regarding human rights abuses.

Oh yeah, we ARE talking about the United "It's only torture if somebody dies, and even then it isn't torture!" States here.

Funny how the right wingers whined about Clinton allegedly selling missile technology to China, yet when it comes to protecting Nixon's dream, they have no problem with selling China, or even handing over, every other item in the store.

66. she isn't the only one to have ever made her idiot remarks public.....a lot of actors fit the bill... stange how fame and fortune makes a person think they have something worth while to say!

67. Shouldn't you have put the rest of her comments in this story,TMZ? No, of course not. That would ruin everything, wouldn't it?

68. Sharon:
Just answer me this,
Did 11 million of Jewish people died in germany concentration camp because of Karma? Did they do something bad?
Did 200k people died in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India in 2004 tsunamis because of Karma? Did they treat Tibetan bad or do something really really bad too?

70. When 'entertainment' and humanity mix...I totally thought this woman was being faceatious... I really thought this was a publicity stunt, and didn't take it one bit seriously. Apparently the teachings of karma are as heartless and cold as the ones who pronounce them as some sort of divine justice. Anyone who has practiced this tradtion will see soon how karma is 'helped along' by peacefully poised semi deities when needed. Karma is an excuse used against powerless human beings held in states of oppression and ultimate servitude. A wealthy woman who supports these notions may as well be involved in purchasing little asian girls to be used up on the sex market. It's a good business over that way, and makes your karma look real good.

71. Ms. stone is really a jerk, the single worst person in Hollywood, worse than OJ Simpson as he (very likely) killed only two people but Ms. Stone loves to kill tens of thousands.

72. The truth hurts China. Not that I'm not sad for their people's suffering, but I was sad for that long before the earthquake.

73. You know what? It is horrible that all of those people died, and I don't deny that. However, I agree with Sharon Stone. You can't perform acts of evil, then expect nothing to come around full-circle. Seems most people either can't, or don't want to, understand the definition of Karma, because of the loss of human life...
IS THAT RIGHT?? well jeremy, If this natural disaster in china is indicative of some kind of past wrong doing on thier part then we here in the U.S are due for a hell of an ass kicking from mother nature soon!! Will you be as quick to judge then?clearly the people in China are not responsible for the wrong doing of their government,I certainly do not want to be held responsible for the wrong doings of the U.S government,do you?

74. Karma is an invention of the religious 'stuporpower' that represents buddhism. It is one of those chicken or the egg debates, that is used because of the fact that one cannot argue against it with logic or proof. Some say it was the chicken some say it was the egg, but really, we just don't know how it came to be.

Posted at 3:23PM on May 28th 2008 by Karma is just a really good excuse for people to harm others

75. What a cruel, idiotic comment from such a vile actor !
