Dwayne's Ex Doesn't Want a Piece of the Rock

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's divorce proceedings are officially done, according to court docs filed last week.
Read the docs
Johnson and his now-ex-wife, Dany Garcia, have a 7-year-old daughter, Simone. According to their divorce agreement, both sides will pay $5,000 a month into a trust fund to be used towards a private school, college education and other living expenses.

Garcia and Johnson will share custody -- splitting up holidays and whatnot -- and both agreed to waive their right to alimony, though The Rock will fork over $22,454/month in child support. Don't worry about Garcia -- she made $700k last year as a financial adviser.

31. What? Are we talking about a peaceful divorce? Is that legal in showbiz?

Good for them, really.

32. Its nice to see a Hollyweird divorce end on a high note for a change rather then the two of them airing out their dirty laundry in the tabloids or to any media outlet that will give them 5 minutes of air time. Sorry they could'nt make it last, but good for them for being adults about it.

33. Mike, Child support is decided on the income of the parent who doesn't have physical custody. You can have 50% custody but that doesn't mean you have physical custody. The child has to have one physical address. The parent who physically has custody of the child is the one entitled to more. The Rock must make alot more than 270 + thousand dollars for them to come up with that sum. Any parent who truly loves their child would want their child to live the lifestyle they are living and the small percentage of their income that child support takes up should not make a difference. Kudos to her for not taking more of his money. It could be worse for him, they were married for a long time, she would have been entitled to more.

34. 26. To BARNDY

I'm sorry, did I offend you? Did you mean to spell your name "Brandy" but couldn't? Was it your goal to find a rich man to knock you up and make you a rich woman? Considering you are a person that types in all capital letters I am guessing that the carrier path of “baby momma” is your best bet. I guess you can always hold out for "lottery winner", but bastard baby breeder has such a nice ring to it don’t you think?

38. Renata, thanks for your contribution, but arguing that he should be happy she didn’t take more is like telling a rape victim she should be happy it was only vaginal and not anal.

The effect is lost when looking at percentages. It may be a small percentage of his overall earnings (about 1/7 of his reported 1.8 million a year earnings) but it is still subsidizing her child rearing expenses when it is not necessary. By making $700,000 a year she is wealthy in her own right. Why should she boost her annual earnings by a third for doing nothing more then having a child? She makes a lot of money and I’m sure she earns every penny of that. The thing is, he earns every penny he makes too. Why should he subsidize her income because he is more successful? It’s not like she’s impoverished and thus unable to afford the care of their child. It not like she has 100% custody either, custody is split. For the amount she makes she can live anywhere she chooses and can easily afford to provide her child with anything she may want or need. There is no entitlement to leer jets and first class accommodations in this world. What I’m saying is this exemplifies the flaw in the system in calculating child support. This flaw creates a situation where certain women seek wealthy men to impregnate them so that they can have an opulent lifestyle on the backs of their children. It is contrary to the interests of society to enforce law that furthers this objective. I am not saying she is that women because she’s not. She is extremely successful in her own right.

Both are very successful and individually make more money then 98% of the people in this country. To have a more successful person subsidize the earnings of a successful person in the form of child support is wrong. There should be a standard of just cause to award child support, not just the fact that a child exists. This is especially true when both parents have 50/50 custody.

40. SHAME OF THE DIVORCE...BUT HE KICKIN OFF A LOTS OF CHILD SUPPORT...BUT THATS OK I STILL LOVE ME SOME ROCK

Posted at 7:48PM on May 29th 2008 by DORISE

41. mike you sound kind of bitter. kind of like you're angry at some woman for taking your money. they might have joint custody but the kid is more than likely spending most of her time with just one parent and in this case it sounds like its the mother. if she's spending more time living with her mom then its the mom that's gonna get the child support.

my parents had joint custody but i lived with my mom and she got child support not my dad. and he did make more than my mom.

42. To BARNDY (huh?)

You can buy and sell me? What are you talking about ya weirdo? Why are you so angry? It's not good to harbor so much hostility... especially if you are a parent.

I'm glad you had an agreeable divorce, but I'm not so happy that you bred. It saddens me to learn that your inferior genetic material was passed to another, but I guess somebody has to grow up to be a worker bee.
