Robert Smith is the best. He writes all their lyrics, music, plays guitar and violin. He started wearing makeup because he is very shy and he felt like having on like that was theatrical and gave him a mask/persona to help him deal with his shyness.

Robert Smith was original when he started this look 25 years ago. Most new bands today are derivative and a joke. Who cares what he looks like now. He's 50, he's supposed to be bloated and have bags under his eyes - unlike that pathetic Pete Wentz who more or less looks like this now at 20 something - actually, I think Pete had more wrinkles and larger bags, oh and Robert never married a talentless starlet for tabloid publicity because he didn't need it.
