Tyler Blames Rehab on Agony of Da Feet

Rocker Steven Tyler just issued a statement to TMZ about his recent stint in rehab. He claims his "trademark athletic performances" injured his feet, requiring surgery and causing him a bunch of pain. Guess it was hard on the knees!

Tyler tells TMZ "The doctors told me the pain in my feet could be corrected but it would require a few surgeries over time. The 'foot repair' pain was intense, greater than I'd anticipated. The months of rehabilitative care and the painful strain of physical therapy were traumatic. I really needed a safe environment to recuperate where I could shut off my phone and get back on my feet. Make no mistake, AEROSMITH has no plans to stop rocking. There's a new album to record, then another tour."

As TMZ first reported, Tyler checked himself into Dr. Drew's rehab facility earlier this month.

46. After foot surgery it will take a good two years before he can walk without pain every time he takes a step. Been there.

49. I agree with Dallas. Perhaps this was to PREVENT becoming addicted! You "haters" need to stop being such all-knowing, judgmental people! Remember, what goes around, comes around!!!

55. Hey to the people out there with the negtive comments. If you are a true Aerosmith fan and have seen them perform in concert then you would undertstand. I have seen Aerosmith in concert over 13 times with the first time being the year of 1975. Steven is the most remarkable and amazing talented performer I have ever seen. If you can jump 5 ft in the air and do the splits at the same time for over 30 + years then I commend you. I don't know why everyone has to think the negative and that maybe you shouldn't cast stones unless you know the facts. If your a true fan you will wish him the best. Come back to us soon Steven you do have fans out there that do wish you well. Rock on dude. One of your biggest fans.

57. Dealing with any type of chronic pain is a devastating experience..one you cannot understand unless you have dealt with it...I can see why someone would do as Mr. Tyler did. If you have a prior problem with any type of substance and then go through something like he's dealing with now..it is to be commended and applauded that he sought help dealing with it..But society as it is today would much rather see him drooling on himself than getting help.
I took my daughter to see Aerosmith..it was her first concert...she was not disappointed and I was thrilled that I was able to expose her to the cultural icon that is STEVEN TYLER.
He may not have a buff body..He may not have a handsome face...But when he performs...He becomes the sexiest man alive.

58. His pain addiction could have easily begun with the foot surgery - leading to pain meds. But - get real - no one goes into rehab unless forced by your MD, family, or employer. He was probably going to be kicked out of the band if he didn't go.

59. "rock on dude" ??? I thought this was the third millenium. Do real people still talk like this? And speaking of stones, when did rock god steven's shrivel up and fall off? He has to have his office girls and concubines defend him all the time?

60. Try facing up to the truth instead of making stupid excuses. Shifting blame won't help you, it will only delay your recovery.

Posted at 12:07PM on May 30th 2008 by Face up to the truth, Tyler - denial is part of your problem.
