Chanel Tries to Shelve Pics of Nic & Mic

Not everyone can fit into Chanel -- especially Nicollette Sheridan and Michelle Trachtenberg!
Nicollette Sheridan and Michelle Trachtenberg
Last week, Chanel threw a big red carpet bash for the opening of its new Robertson Blvd. shop and invited the likes of Angie Harmon, Rachel Bilson, Sheridan and Trachtenberg -- but not Z-lister Phoebe Price! Afterwards, we're told several photo agencies were contacted by reps for the design house asking them to not posts pics of Nic and Mic at the event. Sources tell us they didn't feel the "Desperate Housewife" and "Gossip Girl" were high end enough for the label. Interesting, since they were arguably some of the more famous actresses at the event. Ever Carradine and Tracee Ellis Ross, anyone?!

We're told none of the agencies obliged the couture house's messed up request, but you can probably guess who these ladies won't be wearing to the Emmys.

TMZ contacted a rep for Chanel, but did not hear back.

17. Nicolette Sheridan is exactly what Chanel needs. Shame on Chanel - they should concentrate on all the people that wear the knock-offs...we call them Coco Canal
Nicolette is a classy dame - they probably have no idea that she's originally from the UK

18. I didn't realize Trachtenberg is the same girl who was on an odd but fun show called "the Adventures of Pete and Pete" that aired on Nickelodeon back in the day. She grew up to be sorta hot. A little too much makeup.

19. Tracee Ellis Ross has a large following from fashion forward African American women who watch the t.v. show Girlfriends, NOT just because she's is Diana Ross' daughter.

20. Not good for channel they are going to isolate a lot of 20 somethings because they are think Michelle isn't "high end." Coco Chanel was an innovator now it just seems like they are just perpetuating something that is old now.

21. jnetteb right on! I know who Tracee Ellis Ross is and I wish I didn't know who Nic or Mic were. I'm a white girl who loves Tracee Ellis Ross's style.

26. Personally, I'm glad the codependent relationship between celebrity and designer is beginning to unravel. Maybe now Joan will stick to QVC and Mellisa can go back to being a trust fund baby.

27. @ CarmenP: Tracee Ellis Ross also wears a lot of designer clothing and couture anyway (most likely because of her mom and just being around that sort of thing). So, it stands to reason that designers come to recognize B, C, or even Z-list celebs known for their fashion sense (esp. if they've been known to wear their clothes). This is also true for non-celebs (rich people, natch) who wear a lot of designer clothing. Hence, it makes sense that they will trod out the "other" celebs who are known fixtures in high fashion than a B or C-list celeb who mainly wants the attention.

28. jnettab ~ We are talking about Chanel, not "fashion forward african american women" who by the way, have never stepped foot in Africa!
