Crack is Wack for Tatum O'Neal

Tatum O'Neal was popped by the NYPD for allegedly scoring crack and coke last night.

The NYPD tells us that O'Neal was allegedly "observed" buying crack and coke on the Lower East Side near her apartment.

She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and held at the Seventh Precinct downtown. We're told that she's waiting to see the judge for arraignment.

Her rep couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

51. If I had her life growing up I might be on drugs too. It is so sad. I know she doesn't want to do it but it pulls her back time and time again. I pray she can get clean....again....and stay that way!!

Don't do drugs and think you can be in control!! It is so hard to stop and stay sober!!!!!

53. She was arrested for buying "Crack Cocaine", which is the technical term for crack. CNN and other reputable sites say nothing about her buying cocaine. TMZ fails at journalism, again.

54. I remember when she was on Oprah promoting her book, "A Paper Life" & for some reason... even then, the way she was answering questions & just her demeanor when Oprah was asking her if she was still clean... I remember turning to my friend & saying "I dont know why, but I dont believe her."

Addiction is an extremely hard thing to kick. I hope this serves as a wake up call & she can get back on track.

55. LEGALIZE DRUGS! Dealers won't make any MONEY selling it. Drug kingpins won't make lots of MONEY transporting it. Farmers won’t make any MONEY growing it. Farmers will make more MONEY growing food to help fight the world food shortage. We'll have less need for police, courts, judges, jails, etc. which all cost lots of MONEY. Little old ladies won't get hit over the head by some crack head looking for any MONEY she has. Yes, a few non-productive members of society will OD but they probably would any. With drug pushers out of business because they can’t make any MONEY, our kids will be safer, our streets will be safer. I’m old enough to remember a time before widespread use of drugs. All and all, it was a pretty nice time.

58. Dear Tatum, I know the pain and the grip you are in. I am a 45 year old art dealer, who is also addicted to crack. Perhaps like you, I too binge. I can go months without using. Eventually the craving builds up like a hunger, a starvation, and we become ravenous. We need, our bodies seem to need, that hit of crack. And when we get it, ahhh, what a relief! BUT, by the third hit we are a ashamed of ourselves, and caught up in an anxiety the likes of which no one other than a crack addict can ever understand. We will do and say anything to get our crack. Some binges may go on lasting for days on end, consisting of endless smoking, endless trips back to almost any dealer, back to our homes, which have become unkempt, like our souls. It is not us. It is the worst of us. It is the worst of our souls, not the best. We are two people in one. We wish desperately once and for all the craving would go away, and never come back. But, it does. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and stronger than before, we must have our drugs. Our craving for crack is stronger than anything we've ever known. It's power is triumphant over our souls. Crack is the devils drug. Because nothing feels so good as that wonderful hit from the pipe. Tatum, you are a star, born with a gift, so am I. But can we ever win against this most powerful of all drugs, crack? I curse the day I ever tried crack, for I was, perhaps like you Tatum, hooked from the very first hit. Talking about it, I am craving it now, and it is a physical and mental craving which runs deep into the very person I am, down into my soul, into my DNA. Today is sunny and 75 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, clear, clear blue. Happiness is everywhere. But not inside us. What's wrong with us Tatum? Will we be 70 years old and still smoking crack every now and then? Drugs have robbed us both of so much in our lives. I feel your pain Tatum. I know your soul. I share your life. 60. Unfortunately Tatum has continued to do what her exhusband expects she will do..."fail" as a responsible adult and continue to do drugs. Although I feel empathy for Tatum; however where I once felt her exhusband was overdoing it in terms of not letting her have custody of their kids, I now suspect she just isn't relaible. It is too bad because she is a good actress with the right skills and talent. I hope she gets her act together...she has little crediability now and has got to go a long way to convince anyone that she is going to do the right thing.
