The "American Pie" alum chatted up our photog in NYC yesterday, trying to learn what makes Mayer so cool. But take note, learning Mayer's charm is a lot harder than bagging Stifler's mom.

4. i care, that guy knows a good person when he sees one, I've always said john was a great guy, he is smart.funny,good looking, has lots of talent, and does not take his status too seriously, and this is not a swipe on Jennifer, but he is too good for her,he has a lot to offer someone in his league, she is just someone who was married to brad and reads lines off of a piece of paper,

5. I never really got the whole John Meyer Persona thing - what's so great about a guy who has raccoon eyes & looks like he never gets a good night's sleep...? Personally, I think he's just average-looking

6. John Mayer is witty and fun! He totally sees Hollywood as ass backwards and plays on it. He knows every move that stars make are caught on tape and scrutinized by the publc so he plays with it. His "Beat them to the punch" attitude is refreshing and I look foward to seeing new interviews with him to see what he comes up with! He is absolutely charming and I love seeing him with a smart woman like Jen A. She is also and anti-hollywoodesque personna I like.

8. this video is a load of crap!! seann never even said that he had a crush on john mayer. jeez.. he has a girl friend. her name is deanna miller, she is a victoria secret model. i saw an interview that he had and he mentioned this whole thing and he said that you guys twisted the whole story. stupid paparazzi get some real jobs!!!
