Celebrity Justice
Witnesses: Tatum Cracked Out in Court

Tatum O'Neal was just arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court for her crack and coke bust last night -- she's facing one misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

O'Neal was released on her own recognizance and she's due back in court on July 28.

Our spies say she looked a total mess in court, wearing a gray T-shirt -- and her purple bra strap was showing. She was "clearly distressed" and even had court officers blocking the view of onlookers.

46. TMZ, you kill me with your so called monitoring the comments. As long as you can call people names and give your racist opinion, it cool. However, when a Black person is telling the truth about a subject, you delete their comment. I still stand behind my previous comments. If Tatum was Black, she would have automatically had a pending felony, but because she has white privileges, she gets a slap on the butt and given a misdemeanor. Come on, Stevie Wonder could see that justice wheels turn differently for white folks. Delete this one too TMZ!

47. I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo tired of the "racism" card. She is a celebrity, that's all. If she were Will Smith, or Jada Pinkett, it would have been the same treatment.

Stop doing the racism thing, and start recognizing the real problem!

48. Ram, surprise, racism is still alive in this country. Don't even speak the names of the Smiths in your dirty little mouth; it is so like people to pretend that there are no color lines in the justice system. Please, if there are color lines on staff at TMZ, what do you really think about court. You can call it the race card, but what you need to call it is a reality check! Snap!!!

51. Give the girl a break!! Everyone knows that recovery from any drug use is hard enough and it has it's ups and downs. Unfortuneately her downs were made public because of who she is. Had it been any other crackhead in New York we would of never heard about it. Nobody will ever know why she got weak, but walk a mile in her shoes before you judge her.

54. Obviously something is seriously wrong with this family but at some point you have to take responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming your parents for your problems. Lots of us come from severely dysfunctional families (yes even some worse than this one) and still manage to CHOOSE not to put poison in our bodies. Addiction is a choice not a disease. Nobody said it was easy but people choose whether or not to be drunks or junkies. I think it's time she stopped feeling sorry for herself and took responsibility. I saw Paper Moon at the theatre when I was a teen, it was such a great movie and Tatum is such an incredible talent. Too bad things have gone so wrong for her and too bad she continued the cycle by having children of her own with yet another messed up person. and the saga continues... Obviously the "12-step program" only works for people who CHOOSE to clean up and stay clean.

55. I hope the best for Tatum, drugs can definitely ruin your life and take over. No one deserves that when you get caught up in it and you are trying your hardest to get your life straight again. Good luck to you Tatum!! I know it will be okay for you soon.
