Holyfield Goes Belly Up

Evander Holyfield made over $200 mil in the ring ... and probably another 10 grand or so on "Dancing with the Stars." So shocker -- seems he's broke.

Evander's home has gone into foreclosure and it's going on the auction block. On the home front, he's being sued for allegedly defaulting on a $550,000 landscaping bill. And, baby mama Toi Jenese Irvin is taking him to court for $6 grand in back child support.

Evander's rep was mum.

surely you not one to judge;

the largest tax-free business
in the world is religion.

besides a tax haven, the cloak has always
been utilized for years for foul play....

20. 17 - What does high gas prices have to do with getting to work on time? If you can't afford to drive, and then you have to start taking public transportation then you make allowances for the extra time it would take you. Don't blame Bush because people can't plan ahead. :P Your post makes no sense.

21. This is really mean spirited, whoever thought of posting this. It's called "kicking someone when they're down." So mean, I repeat...

22. Another sports figure who obvious is living well above his means. Instead of a 10 million dollar home, why not a 5million dollar home? Surely in Atlanta, he still would have gotten something very nices. You see in the end it does not pay to floss, and try to keep up with the joneses, specifically when you never know when the money trail may come to an end.

23. I live in atlanta not too far from his home, 1st of all he has a 100 room mansion, who needs 100 rooms? 2nd how could he have made over $200 Million dollars and be broke or his home is in foreclosure. I hate it happens to him, but i don't feel sorry for him at all.

24. How do you have 200 Million dollars and go broke? That would be enough for me,my kids (if i have any), and there kids to live off of very comfortably without working a day?? I agree with the person that said he should go to UFC and let them guys beat him up for being a idiot

25. What a minute. If giving Holyfield this money was going to make them broke (insolvent) then why loan him your last money - idoits. Never loan money to people if you can't afford to loan it. Duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

26. To #24- Good question. I am guessing it is all tied into all of the other Ponzi Schemes/Mortgage Fraud that have been going on in Utah. Basically, a bunch of idiots have been starting lots of LLCs, taking money from "investors" (friends, realatives, poor old ladies, anyone they could con) and guaranteeing them a ridiculously high rate of return. The money was supposed to be invested in Real Estate, but most of it just bought Astin Martins for these dudes and paid intrest to other investors. Sooner or later, the well ran dry. Sounds like these idiots decided to try and recoup some investor losses by loaning to Holyfield and now they are screwed, even though they already were.

27. I think it is a shame that all the people sharing their thoughts are so judgmental. I happened to work for the Warrior and I know that he spent an AWFUL lot of money building and strengthening his foundation which helped so many children in so many ways. I knew Mr. Holyfield to be a gracious and generous man who jumped at opportunities to share his fortune. We are in a recession people. There are many people whose homes are in foreclosure and who are finding it difficult to hold fast during these intricate times. I too, am perplexed that somehow the millions he made were not enough to protect his home. But I, unlike you, know that he makes investments in many people’s dreams and sometimes those dreams, not only aren’t profitable, they lose him a lot of money. At least like most boxers, Holyfield didn't sell his soul to Don King; loosing half his fortune this way. I like to think we live in a kind world but when I read comments like the ones you people have left today it makes me rethink my position. Instead of rude comments about this champion, why not words of encouragement or support. Have you ever heard the saying about putting yourself in some else's shoes? Try it sometime. Part of me wants to clinch my fists in balls of rage and wish ill will on each of you rude and thoughtless people but instead I shake my head in disappointment and hope that someday you people will evolve to a higher place.

28. He didnt have that school across the street built for his kids. Thats a Catholic School (Our Lady of Mercy) They attended another christian school in the same city (Landmark Christian School). That would be dumb for a Christian to build a Catholic School for his children...

and he has alot to pay for on that property......im surprised he kept it that long...

29. #26 - People learn the definition of recession. I am so sick of hearing that we are in a recession. NEWS FLASH. WE ARE NOT. The only thing I can say, what goes around comes around. He has lived the life like no other and should have taken the steps just like every other responsible person with finances should. I don't feel sorry for people that make that kind of money and could have put as little as 12,000 a year away in mutual funds for 10 years and have over a million dollars to live off of. DOWNSIZE PEOPLE. The days of trying to keep up with the Smith and Jones is ridiculous. The economy has nothing to do with it when you plan and cut back on things. Make your own coffee instead of going to Starbucks. Lower your minute plan on your cell phone. Why do you have to have all those channels on cable. I do feel sorry and my heart goes out to the people who are truly hurting, but I'm not responsible for in providing for them financially with all these programs if they CANNOT or WILL NOT live within their means. Hear's a thought - eat at home more often instead of going out to dinner. Lay off the credit cards. I am so sick of hearing how we are rude and mean on this post because someone was not accountable for his own actions.

30. Guys like this are a dime a dozen. With the economy the way it is, mothers need their child support. What a JERK!
