Britney to Sean P: Shhhhh ... I'm On the Phone

Sure, Britney Spears is making some progress with her kids -- but she's gotta lose that damn cell phone.

As TMZ first reported, the pre-5150 Britney often ignored Sean Preston and Jayden James during her visits with them. Yesterday was better -- she's giving S.P. and J.J. some face time, but Spears still spent more hands-on time text messaging than touching her boo boos.

77. Not to worry. Brit is bad mom and anyone defending her is a bad mom. End of story.

I, for one, am not defending Britney. She is immature and not very intelligent, and she has emotional and probably psychological problems. I seriously doubt that the children can be safe if they are alone with her.

However, that doesn't change the fact you are liar, a coward, a crybaby, and a hypocrite, Ledbetter.

79. Seriously, what mom has never used the phone while watching her kids... That is so lame. But it just goes to show, that is the best you guys can come up with on her lately, so I guess she'll have the last laugh... Hurry --all moms, throw away all your phones or you might be a bad mommy too.... LAME

80. So I suppose since some folks are parents that the are not allowed to have any free time at all, is that it? Gimme a break people. Parents need some time away too, and believe it or not, they are able to get it and if they choose to look at a gossip website during those times, I'm fairly sure that's within the law and doesn't make them bad parents. GROW UP.

81. Momfo3 I am also a horrible mother. i actually work out of my home and let them play alone sometime! Oh My God, someone call the police, before they die from neglect!!! It really doesn't matter what she does. If she were sitting with them on the floor, playing, I'm sure someone would say she was acting childish and immature, and not fit to raise children! Give here a break, people! and TMZ!!!

82. Ledbetter1212...Looks like you have obsessed fans, hon! LOL You know what we say...when you bug them so bad and make them so mad...well, you know the rest. Have a good day, hon.

83. Ledbetter lives in a sick fantasy world and couldn't identify a good mother if his/her life depended on it.

84. Hey Roughdaddy, are you a parent?

85. To ljkhvsdliuhwelkjhveliuhwerg

whew! I started to get upset when you jumped on my post! I was like huh? I am agreeing what you said - what did I do? LOL

but I totally agree with your correction.... these people dont have a clue if Brit was just inside coloring with her kids for an hour and came outside to give them some fresh air and free-play time. No one knows... they just hate to be hating and THINK they know exactly what it is to be a perfect mother (yet - here they are on a goofy website).

NOTE TO THE REST OF YOU: Do you think you would have the balls to be at judgemental and hateful to someone's face the way you do here behind mysterious names? Doubtful. And that makes you small.

86. Agreed, POT MEETS KETTLE. Most of the people here would wet their pants and go running to their mommies if they had to meet Britney in person and tell her to her face what they write here.

And again I'm so sorry. I had two pages with messages that I was going to respond to. I was going to agree with yours and give Ledbetter a piece of my mind. But I pasted my Ledbetter response into the wrong page ... and the rest is history. Anyway, thanks for accepting my apology.

87. First of all, she doesn't have her kids 24/7. She sees them a few days a week for a few hours. I would think that time should be set aside for her kids only, no phone, etc. Also, did you see the nanny coming out to take Sean from the toy car. And when Sean exited the toy car, he ran right past mommie. If she's that busy with business, then let an assistant handle your calls while you have the kids, just like you have the nanny there for the kids. I like Britney and feel sorry for her, but there is something wrong with that picture, that's all. I know it's always been about Britney since she was a little girl, so she's used to it. And yes, Britney loves her kids. I feel sorry for those adorable boys, they have at least two nannies and bodyguards with them all the time. Maybe when she's all better, things will change. They just need her undivided attention while she has them for that little bit of time, that's it. If she were a full-time mother, then I could understand her being on the phone and texting with them around. Enough said. Good luck, Britney!!!

88. 52. Those boots are stupid looking! Makes me wonder how much better she is doing if she dresses like that! Common sense-I think not.

Ah, you're another one of those geniuses who believes that the true measure of whether or not someone is mentally ill is determined by their choice in clothes. You must live in Los Angeles.

Posted at 4:59PM on Jun 6th 2008 by You're super-, super-, superficial

89. I agree with you, diane, that there seems to be something wrong, but not because Britney spent 5-6 seconds on the phone and another 13-14 seconds looking at the phone. And the video was edited. You can be sure that the character assassins at TMZ didn't cut out any more phone calls, nor did they cut out any other bad parenting. In other words, the small amount that we saw here is almost certainly everything in the original video where Britney looks like a less-than-ideal mother, and everything else is sitting on the cutting room floor.

But like I said, I share your view that there's something about Britney's attitude that doesn't seem right, and I'm not only talking about in this video. She has a sort of cold, distant, self-absorbed look, even when she's not with her kids.

Maybe some of that is due to the meds she's allegedly taking, but also, I agree that she's used to everything being about her. No doubt a lot of what we see in Britney is her narcissism showing through.

But anyway, the people who are so eagerly and obsessivly trashing Britney as a mother for taking a 5-6 second phone call are totally missing the point.

90. I think it's sad that everyone is STILL attacking her, when she has so obviously made huge strides in her behavior. Anyone stop to think how little has been in the news regarding her time with the children. Could that maybe be because she's not given the paps ANYTHING to criticize. But GOD FORBID she spend a minute out of what was probably hours on the phone. There are some calls that do have to be handled personally. It's obvious she's trying to do better, and succeeding. Whatever happened to treating others the way you want to be treated, not to mention giving someone the benefit of the doubt. My goodness, my 23 month old is currently bouncing in a bouncy seat as I type this. Oh, and my 10 and 12 year old are outside playing by themselves ... WITHOUT ME (gasp!) Alas, I suppose I join the ranks of bad moms.
