Spike to Clint: "We're Not on a Plantation!"

Director Spike Lee has done what no one thought would ever happen. He's brought back Dirty Harry!

Spike Lee and Clint Eastwood
After complaints from Spike Lee claiming that Clint Eastwood didn't include black soldiers in his two Iwo Jima films, Eastwood decided to come back on the controversial director with some words of his own saying, " A guy like him should shut his face."

Lee then further fueled the drama fire saying, "First of all, the man is not my father and we're not on a plantation either. He's a great director ... I didn't personally attack him. And a comment like "A guy like that should shut his face," come on Clint, come on. He sounds like an angry old man right there."

Missing your afternoon nap would make you cranky too!

136. Clint has the right to be "angry." Spike has impuned Clint's intergity with lies and half-truths and a mistaken belief that anyone on this side of the "plantation" gives a hoot about what Spike says. Spike, go back to school and study American History.

137. Lee is doing this simply because he wants to get attention for his upcoming WWII film. Mr. Eastwood's films, Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima were released over 2 years ago, so bringing this up at this time is suspicious to say the least.

Lee is SO playing the race card with that pathetic "plantation" line.

Eastwood is a master filmmaker. He's one of the greatest working today.

And Eastwood is not a racist. His film, Bird, had a predominantly black cast and is one of the best films ever made about jazz. Even Charlie Parker's widow loved the film. Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby starred Morgan Freeman, and he won the Oscar for the latter.

Lee has no class or tact. Eastwood has it in droves.

138. Newsflash:

America is sick of black people whining and crying phony racism. Black people are like 2 year olds who cry and whine when they don't get their way.

You cannot talk to or do business with black people because the moment they don't agree with something they'll call you racist or sue you for racism, etc

You can't have it both ways. You want equality, but you don't want to be held to the same standards and setbacks in life the rest of us face.

139. #123 is so right:

Spike Lee is just copying Obama. Every time Obama needed a win in a primary, he had his people call Bill and Hillary racists. It worked like a charm.

----------------

Obama barely got the nom, and only because he's black. Obama is not on the high road. He had his staffers do all kinds of dirty tricks behind the scenes.

140. Spike is nothing but a race baiter! Clint has more class in his pinky than Spike will ever have!

141. Spike Lee is the biggest racist behind John Singleton. Sure, he has lots of white people in his films, but look how he portrays them-- usually as stupid Italians with no brains. I believe this ios also the same man who would only allow black press to interview him after releasing "Malcom." Hmm.

142. Note to Spike: Your a closet racist! You are one of the many blacks that is under the impression that the "Civil Rights Act" of the 60's was REALLY "The Special Rights Act".
You want to critize another professional because there were no token blacks in his film. Get this Spike....there were no blacks in the story Clint was trying to tell. And....he bases his movie on the facts. You have no right to critize in this case and you're no match with Clint Eastwood as a person, director, actor, etc.!
So, grow up, little one, and stop trying to push race as a motive for attention. Go out and earn your glory, like Clint did.

143. Bill Mauldin drew a cartoon during WW2 depicting Willy and Joe, his white dogface characters, examining wrecked trucks in a junkyard. Willy says to Joe, "What do you know, this one has a bullet hole it." It will be interesting to see how Spike Lee depicts the driving ability of black drivers during WW2. If he attempts to make an historiacally accurate film, he should focus not only on Tuskeegee pilots, who flew and performed with the best, but also on black soldiers who were not heroes, just ordinary men in uniform. Can Spike Lee accurately depict history, or just spew propaganda?, is the question. Let's hope he surprises us all.

144. Hey Spike!

Ever since I can remember you coming onto the Hwood scene, you've been a tried and true, spout off at the mouth racist! Expand your mind a bit here; you do know that your own people sold blacks into slavery don't you? It's a historical "fact!" Now, with that being said, with all of our forefathers that performed these acts now long gone, how about we move forward? History is changing all around you. Was it a bad decision on their part, hell yes it was. Did the white man participate? Yup, but so did the black man.

Peace out!

145. The race card, the race card. Get a good education and you won't need to hide behind the race card. Spike Lee is a twit, all he wants to do is stir the pot.

146. 112. Spike needs to step away from that crack pipe

Posted at 12:15AM on Jun 8th 2008 by Gwydiana

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I disagree with you. Fill up his crack pipe and invite all the other black racists who have been harassing the white people so they can get their way. Let them smoke the pipe until they expire in a puf of angry, putrid smoke!

Maybe then the US will be able to live in peace and harmony.

147. Hooray to Clint Eastwood for telling this twerp what to do. I am a 47 Y/O black man and I cannot stand that little racist Spike Lee. I call him " Klan with a tan " . He sounds like David Duke when he speaks and his act has gotten old. If Obama get s elected President he and all his fellow race hustler bretheren will be out of work because they will lose the last hope of racism they have to keep the cash flowing in. CLint Eastwood's body of work speaks for itself, Look at the wonderful movies he made with Morgan Freeman . Spike needs to crawl back under his rock.

148. WOW! I don't know about you, but I am beyond sick and tired of black people playing the race card. No Spike, you're not on a plantation, and you never were! You never suffered and you never experienced anything that would promote you to a level of authority on the subject. As a matter of fact; the only good films you have made (25th Hour and Clockers) were not rooted in race issues! Clint was not making a film about welfare abuse or fathers abandoning their responsibilities as parents, or gang violence, or you would have seen more of what you were looking for. Everyone sees the truth! Everyone knows what is really going on!!!

149. Oh, I forgot to mention; I despise slavery as much as anyone! I hate the fact that our ancestors brought blacks into this country as slaves. It was wrong in every way. Believe me when I say we are paying for it........because now we have to live with them!

150. And, what would Spike Lee expect Mr. Eastwood to do, re-write history? It is common knowledge that, unfortunately, the United Stated military services were segregated until the Korean War, (that is 1950 for those of you who went to pullik skool), while the taking of Iwo Jima was in WWII (that was before the Korean conflict). Should Mr. Eastwood have invented a fictitious all African American regiment (or better yet, take an existing African American regiment and place it on Iwo Jima where no one has historically been) and have that group charge up Mt. Surabachi and plant the flag?

Better yet, Mr. Eastwood could have truly re-wrote history to portray that the outcome of the Iwo Jima was decided by challenging the Japanese to a shoe shining contest or barracks cleaning. That way, the valets and latrine orderlies could participate!!! Then, if that wasn't decisive, we could challenge the remaining Japanese soldiers to a "tap dancing" competition.
