Spike to Clint: "We're Not on a Plantation!"

61. This would only be a big deal if a talented African American were disturbed by this, but Spike Lee isn't happy unless he's trying to play off white guilt. Plantation? Are you serious? Clint has made culturally diverse films, and done so with the premise in mind that they were historically accurate. Spike has made movies casting Denzel playing they role of Angry Black Man No. 1, and to his credit, has never said anything about his own movies making African Americans seem like angry, self-serving shills. He is a sad blow hard who should join with other useless blow hards like Rev Al who do nothing but take black people down a road of shame and sadness. Spike, you weren't a slave, you weren't raised on a plantation, and no one is out to get you. I'm Native American, and my people have been S'd on more than anyone in this country, we don't continually cry and whine and aren't on the news everyday as you try to ploy off another races guilt. The Japanese in this country were totally S'd on for years, ever here of a prison interment camp, that was recent buddy. I don't hear George Takei crying about how white people take him down everyday. Do something about it, make an important movie, and do one that is accurate. Malcom X, you should be ashamed at that horrible piece of historically inaccurate claptrap.

62. it sounds like spike needs to stop hunting for surpression, and start helping the black community to move forward.
in my town resently there was a rally fighting black on black crimes, that is a way to move forward, not nitty picking a great directors efforts... go back to the minors (thats what i would say to him... not that im a good director lol)

63. Spike Lee needs the attention, his movies are inundated in the disease he suffers from called monomania ,and only a targeted audience are interested in viewing them. The movie "flags of our fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima",was based on the book written by James Bradley about his father and the other five men that raised the flag on Mount Surabachi, and the historical fact is that the only "minority" that was among them was Ira Hayes, a Pima Indian. But really race should never figure into the historical facts anyway, I don't care to know if it was six black men who raised the flag at Mount Surabachi ,five white men and one Indian, six Indians or six mulattoes, the fact is RACE is not important, but seems to be the most pertinent factor with Spike Lee.

Since the movie was based on the book concerning the six men who raised the flag on Mount Surabachi there is nothing racist about the movie. Also we must take into account that Ira Hayes was played by Adam Beach. Adam Beach exuded much more depth of character than many of the other actors in this movie. The other movie Letters from Iwo Jima shows the battle totally from a Japanese perspective, so where Spike Lee is seeing racism is beyond me.

Maybe Spike Lee is introducing controversy into the mix to promote his upcoming movie "Miracle at St. Anna ", taken from the book written by James McBride. This movie is about "four black American soldiers who get trapped in a Tuscan village during WWII." Now I ask you ,be totally objective here, just how many American black soldiers would you have found trapped in a village in Italy during WWII, talking about a movie based on race and improbabilities? However I will go to see "Miracle at St. Anna because many African-Americans did fight in WWII and the movie might have some healthy insights and a healthy moral to the story, if its not the usual cookie-cutter produced Spoke Lee movie. I must also keep in mind that this book is a novel, therefore it doesn't have to be factual. The movie does sound interesting though, but how Spike Lee can suggest that Clint Eastwood is racist I will leave for someone else to ruminate over.

He has numerous fights with others directors like Woody Allen telling him about the same thing he told Clint and he used the same Plantation line on the Bill/ Hillary Clinton , maybe , Spike Lee needs to take a Special Class on Tolerance or Angry Management.

65. While in NYU film school, my roommate stopped by a Spike Lee film set. He asked one of the guys on the set if he could intern there for free, or even just get coffee to be around the set. The guy told him ver batim "Sorry, I have nothing against you, but Spike only works with brothers". True story.

69. I have enjoyed many of Spike's movies including his first which I believe was called She's Got to Have It. But for many years I have thought that Spike was a viscous racist. I have never though that about Clint.

70. I think Spike's just jealous. Yesm there is racism in Hollywood, and black actors are not employed when they should be, but Spike needs to leave Clint alone. Pick your battles Spike when the mean something and in this case it means nada!

Speaking as a black person, Clint has a get out of jail card with me cause dude directed one of the best movies EVER---Bird!!! Spike's just jealous cause he didn't direct it and feels in competition with Clint. And if it's true Clint is directing a movie about Nelson Mandela, that even clinches it even more, Spike's jealous cause he wasn't chosen to direct a movie about Mandela.

And Clint is not a racist, his wife, I believe, is Brazilian and you know they all got some black in them. She even looks like she's got black in her, whatever nationality she is.

Yes, Spike, shut your pie hole and direct your movies. Don't worry about what Clint's doing. Spike's just a Jealous Guy!

men with German ancestry serving in Europe and perhaps getting a little to cozy with the Krauts.

73. Recent Films below , Spike Lee apparently has Major issues of Intolerance towards others that are not like him politically or ethnic. He did fuel the Nation of Islam in the 1990's , with his film malcom X.

Spike Lee's obsessions with race and ethnicity never go away. Nor does his smug arrogance at the expense of those who are not members of his own race and ethnicity.

Today, Lee has two movies debuting in theaters, "Inside Man" and "Confederate States of America."

The first is an exciting action thriller . . . if you don't mind that Whites and Jews are weak, idiotic, evil, and/or calculating, while the Black police detectives are the exact opposite of all these and save the day
