17. I really should be working - but - can't stop reading these comments! I live here in Newport News, Va. & when everything went down with the Vick mess, thats all everyone talked about. Yes, what he and his friends did was terrible, yes at first he lied about things, but then told the truth & faced his punishment. I know his son, a sweet wonderful young man, and he is friends with my grandson & I feel so sorry for him. What his dad did will "hang" over his head for the rest of his life I'm sure, but at some time there has to be somekind of forgiveness. I'm sure that Mike is sitting in his cell daily & especially at night thinking of what he did & how this has affected his life,career & his family. He will have to live with that for the rest of his life, and once out, he will be watched & hopefully he has learned from his mistakes & can be the father his children need. I met him on the first day of his sons school, at the time when everything was going down, & he took the time to stop in the hallway & let me take pictures of him & I thought that was pretty cool of him to do that for me. I have faith that he will learn from this & get out & be a great dad & hopefully in future will still continue in the NFL. I have faith in ya Vick!!

19. What Vick did was awful. And yeah, he may deserve to rot in hell for what he allowed to happen. But realistically, they made an example of him. He got greater punishment than a the killer of another human being.

And that is the disgrace of the justice system. As well as those screaming for his head. Where are all you people when a man kills his wife? His kids. His neighbor? When a father rapes his daughter, killing her soul?

And truthfully, had Vick been less famous, less rich, and realistically, white, he would have gotten a slap on the wrist and sent on his way.

Let me tell it to you boneheads one more time....THIS WASN'T ABOUT RACE! Vick was handed the world on a platter, and chose instead to participate in a CLEARLY ILLEGAL and dispicable activity. His jail sentence was correct, and you would have seen the same outrage if he was white.

24. You know...if more people cared this much about all the PEOPLE that get killed every day, maybe this world would be at least a little better place. He did the crime; now he's doing the time. People have done MUCH worse things and aren't so badly persecuted. I love dogs and other animals as much as the next person, but it baffles me how people treat animals like humans and feel that it's okay to rip a guy to shreds because he did something stupid. I am absolutely admitting that it was a bad, dumb thing to do, but he wasn't having his own dogs fight each other. Many more people are out there doing this, and they've made an example out of this poor guy. I really do feel for him. I don't understand how he has to serve his whole sentence, while other celebs (you knowww who I'm talking about) get off the hook when they were putting other human beings' lives in danger by their actions. Love the US "justice" system..........

26. There are many who would pay from their own pockets to haul conVick's backside out to VA for the State Trial.....including me! This delay is a ploy by Poindexter to try and let this story settle down a bit more and get lost some where. Poin-idiot couldn't find his way out of a paper bag...and he's already proved it with how horrible he handled this case when it first broke. He proved to be so incompetent that the Feds had to step in. Poin-idiot should be investigated by the Law Board and have his degree yanked....he doesn't deserve to pretend like he can practice law.

conVick deserves the maximum penalty the State of VA can serve....5 years for every dog he abused and/or fought. There were actually 8 dogs but in his brillant (not) presentation to the Grand Jury, Poin-idiot was able to get away with only charging conVick with abuse/fighting of 4 or 5. So, if conVick gets 5 years per dog...that's about 20 years he should serve on the State charges.......justice. Maybe he will learn his lesson by then. It's a heck of a lot better than he ever gave any of the dogs!

For anyone who continues to babble about "what about others who have killed someone, DUI, rape, wife beating, etc., etc., etc". I doubt anyone on here condones that behavior...I certainly don't....they should pay, and pay dearly..just like conVick should pay dearly. Lastly, two wrongs don't make a right.....just beacuse someone killed someone while they were drunk and they got off doesn't mean conVick should get off.......get real!

28. Many of you people are SICKER than Vick - you actually think DOGS MATTER MORE THAN PEOPLE. Yes, he was wrong, but it was only a bunch of freaking dogs! Did they deserve it NO - but again, only DOGS.

Michael Vick has paid enough for dog cruelty - there are people who rape and maim children who don't get this much time in jail. The whole case is bogus.

And he is very handsome....I hope VA leaves him alone when he gets out - isn't there a statute of limitations on the charges. Leave the man alone.

You think his time is excessive? So you must think it's ok to be cruel to animals. Animals are God made. Humans are God made. Does that make it ok to torture humans, rape humans and then shoot them or slam them on the ground until they're dead? Please say yes, then post your physical address. An "eye for an eye" and "treat others as you yourself would like to be treated" can be your gift.

30. Animal cruelty is a crime in many states. How about we tie your butt down and let YOU get raped over and over. Then, just for fun, we'll slam you on the ground until your head caves in or all your bones break. Maybe you'll die. Maybe you won't. But since you think it's alright for someone to do that to an animal that God created, it must be alright to do that to humans since God created us.
And yes, animals are being tortured everyday. Which is why there are many groups who try to stop it. But it's people like you who make it difficult on a daily basis with your hatred attitude. And if you were any kind of real man, you would have stood up and gone to the supervisor or over the supervisor to stop those animals from suffering in the shelter you worked in. And if you couldn't do that, you could have reported it to your local paper or news station.
I would ask God to have mercy on you. But since you have no mercy for animals, why should anyone show you any?

For 1 minute try to understand where his crime (dogfighting) stems from.
Dogfighting like Chicken fighting is cultural. He probably saw his first dog fight before he was 5.
Believe it or not, Dogs are animals. I've never seen a dogfight. But I can't Imagen it being any worse then what I saw my second week working in animal control. I was dropping off about 5 stray dogs at the shelter. I arrived to find the shelter worker sticking a needle into the heart of some of the dogs, there were dogs everywhere, some convulsing, some barely walking, staggering until they fell over, others panting laying on the floor, waiting to die. 15-20 dogs all killed, put in plastic trash bags and stuffed into a freezer to wait for someone to take them to their final resting place, the county land fill.
Mike Vick is a Man, he had his life in order far better then I do. He made a mistake, that was bread into him, rather through family, peers or both. Maybe oneday we will see Hunting or Fishing is inhumane. I mean taking a living creature, stuffing it to hang on your wall?
I've seen people get serious DUI or DWI offenses where people are hurt, child molesters, drug dealers, and burglars not get punished the way Mike Vick has been.
VA. should give Vick time served on any of the changes it intends to bring.
There are hundreds of other animals being abused in Va. Get off of Mike Vick so that he maybe able to heal his life. Maybe he will see Dogfighting with a new heart and will be able to change the hearts of others.
