Sports is always about "what have you done for me lately", 26 rings over 86 years means nothing to the fact that the Yankees couldn't accomplish a thing before they had the Babe and haven't done a thing since he whipped your ass in 2004. Boston is known for it's comebacks. No team had ever comeback from 3-0 in a best of 7 until the Red Sox did it. No team has ever comeback from that point deficit in game four until the Celtics did it. Even if, God forbid, the Lakers end up winning the title, that comeback is what people are going to be talking about, not the championship.
Yeah, the Patriots lost the Superbowl but we'd won 3 out of 4 before that. New York teams have won what else lately? And the Giants don't even play in New York. They should be called the New Jersey Giants.
JJ, you say the Red Sox have bought a team instead of putting it together from home grown players. Hey turkey, your only recent home grown player is Joba Chamberlain. Jeter's been up ten years nowand so has Jorge Posada. And let's see, just in the past two years we brought up Jacoby Ellsbury, Brandon Moss, Jason Masterson. Jon Papelbon was home grown and so is John Lester, Craig Hansen, Jason Varitek, Dustin Pedroia, 2007 Rookie of the Year and Kevin Youkilis, 2007 First Base Gold Glove. And I can't wait until Jon's brothers, the south paw and the submariner join him.
Your best players were bought. Johnny Damon, Jason Giambi, ARod, Mike Mussina. Even Andy Pettite got away from you for awhile. Don't try to argue baseball with me. You WILL lose.
And by the way, It was a Yankees fan who drove into a crowd of Red Sox fan when she lost an argument at a bar, killing one and injuring several others. Plus the Yankees fans who jumped a Red Sox fan outside a bar in NYC and put him in the hospital. You'll never see a Red Sox fan doing that. We don't use deadly force and we fight never fight 4 to 1. Yankees fans are cowards.
