Dead Country Star: Don't Unbury My Bone

Eddie ArnoldA man in Orange County claims he's country legend Eddy Arnold's illegitimate son -- and wants Arnold's body unburied for a DNA test to prove it.

Arnold -- the crooner who brought us "You Don't Know Me" and "I Want to Go With You" -- died May 8, but Christopher Edward Tanner just filed a petition in Davidson County, Tenn. to have DNA testing done on Arnold's remains, as the Tennessean reports. Eddy's lawyer says that Arnold always denied having fathered Tanner.

And by the way: Tanner is 47 years old. Think he waited long enough?

16. Stop explaining to the posters on here. Some of them are lucky if they can comprehend D'ick and Jane.

17. this "story" has been around country music FOREVER....the guy is only out for money. Why do you think he waited until Mr. Arnold was dead to file??? Let it go and move on with your life.....youre 47 for God's sake......

18. "unburied"? THIS is what you pay your writers to WRITE???

Geez.

I believe the word you're looking for is ""exhumed".

I don't get you people. I wrote better than that in 3rd grade.

19. God forgive me PLEASE... I heard a rumor and I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS.... that Rumer Poontang Willis offered to harvest the sperm for this dude's corpse and carry his child as a basis of a reality show...her roommates on this sick show would be Joyce Dewitt and has been Kirk Douglas

20. The only reason he wants DNA done is because he wants money. Plain and simple. End of story.

21. They didn't have all of the technology back then that they have today. If this guy was over 18 when he inquired, then Eddy Arnold didn't have to prove anything. I just wonder if Christopher's mother ever listed Mr. Arnold as the father on the birth certificate? He still deserves to know the truth, regardless of his age. Personally, I would have tried to obtain the DNA before his burial, but maybe for some reason he couldn't. Whatever method they have to resort to...whether it's exhumation or possible DNA from a known living relative of Mr. Arnold, this man deserves to know who his father was. Even if it turns out not to be Mr. Arnold, he needs to be able to at least have that closure so he can maybe continue with his search. And if it turns out to be true..well, I hate to speak ill of the dead, but...SHAME ON YOU, EDDY. You would think that if someone came to you saying that you have a child, you would want to know for sure instead of automatically denying it. (Providing that you slept with the person, that is!) I also wonder if Mr. Arnold went to his grave with the knowledge that this really was his son, and he just didn't want to own up to it? (Or if he told the truth all along.) Get that DNA and put this to bed once and for all........

22. This is not uncommon in Nash. I've been told of many older country artist's having kids scattered acrossed the country. Typically the artist owns up to the responsibility IF he believes the child is his. However,I've never seen one proven. Like any profession in the limelight, you attract moths. Could this be true? Sure, anything is possible. But probably isn't true. Any serious inquiry into eddy Arnold's past could have been resolved in the last 40 years - not since he's dead. Looks like a text book , run of the mill, kook claim.

#17 ditto - out for cash - probably because his mom went to an Eddy Arnold show 40 years ago and some half fat blind aunt told him he looked like eddy and sang as good as he did. Life hasn't turned out right, so he's congered up this belief that Eddy might actually be his dad.

23. TMZ: LEARN HOW TO WRITE A STORY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT INCLUDES A PICTURE.

TMZ: YOU DID NOT NAME ; THE PICTURE IS???

TMZ: READERS ARE CONFUSED AS TO WHETHER THE PICTURE IS OF ARNOLD OR TANNER.

TMZ: THE READERS HAVE HAD TO RESEARCH Y-O-U-R ARTICLE TO DETERMINE THE FACTS; IS THE PIC OF EDDY ARNOLD OR TANNER?

THE PIC IS OF ARNOLD, UH, AFTER RESEARCH. IF YOU REVIEW THE COMMENTS, IT HAS BEEN UNCLEAR TO MOST.

TMZ INTERNS: LESSON LEARNED.

24. Go compare a picture of Eddy Arnold and this man........you wont need a DNA sample!
No doubt parentage when you compare pictures.

25. Why not ask his children for a DNA sample. Please this man claims come after 47 years on this earth why wait till the man is buried and gone to file for a DNA sample. I am sure his children would give DNA. This is such a shame. They wait till the man has been dead for over a month. Please he could have petitined while this man was alive and it does not sit in court. Paturnity tests do not sit in any court system. They are dealt with but why wait 47 years. If it sat in any court for 47 years please this man's mother would be banging on a door to get a peice of the pie when he was younger.

26. OBVIOUSLY THIS GUY SMELLS DOLLAR SIGNS FROM MR. ARNOLDS ESTATE. 5 MINUTES ALONE WITH THIS SOB AND I WOULD GIVE HIM A DOWN HOME ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT.

27. too bad for eddy arnold,if the kid is his he deserves the money, should of had it while growing up,have you seen frank sinatra's kid that he said wasn't his,she looks just like nancy, could be twins, she had to wait till after he died to get dna, before that the family said she was just out for money, easy to say when your the ones that were raised in the mansion.
i say, exhume him if his kids or grandkids won't do a dna and put the matter to rest,it would be the fault of eddie's family not the "maybe son" if he gets exhumed.

28. One comment..."the court will treat him as family for the will..." This guys not a minor child. There is no law written that states you have to leave anything to your children....even the ones you know about! The only persons that you can't exclude are your spouse and they're entitled to whatever the law is in the state you're living in when you die. So, if it's $$ he's after, he's SOL!
His attorney said he always denied this guy was his child, so obviously this isn't something "new". Could be old Eddy took the steps to specifically exclude him in his will because, child or not, he made his wishes clear what he wanted after his death. If it's in the will (and the child is not a minor) again he's SOL! He should've done something in the courts before he was an adult in the eyes of....

29. What is it with these people? A man claimed a couple months ago he was the son of JFK only to have his own family call him a liar and that put that rumor to sleep. The other comment was right on the money. There is no law that states adult children are entitled to any or part of their parents estate. And if they have known about him for a long time then obviously Eddy took steps to exclude him from the will. And if this is true what is to be gained for testing if someone did not acknowledge you when they were alive? You can't force love and acceptance from the grave. Don't worry about where you came from but where you are going. The best thing this man can do is love his children, if he has any and never give them any reason to doubt it.

30. The whole thing is suspect period.Dont you think someone in Eddys position wouldve paid them off to keep it under wraps?I mean it coudve killed his career and the lady keeps quiet? No money tranfers hands over the life of this guy and his mother. For years I couldnt get any of the major media to do articles on Eddy. Now he will be in all of them,Why?Trash sells and integrity not.I hate the thought of him not being able to defend himself while the tabloids make him front page fodder to make a dime.Even if its true why wait until hes dead and gone?Unable to tell his side.Go figure.
