18. 2,500 a WEEK just to take care of HIS OWN DAUGHTER? What an IDIOT. In the report it says over and over that he "converses with Britney" WELL HELLO, SHE'S YOUR DAMN DAUGHTER, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO CONVERSE WITH HER!! 19. The poor guy is earning every penny he is being paid. He has a tough job keeping his mentally ill daughter out of trouble. Britney has not shaved her head or showed he private parts since he took over her care. Britney has still been talking in an accent as if she was born in London, England. Papa has done a great job if the only nutty thing she does is talk funny. Britney's career is over and she needs help in keeping what money she made.

20. The one thing some of us are forgetting is that she is a 20 something woman. She has kids (though not currently with her) has been married and shouldn't need her daddy like that. Yes she has an illness but that does not obligate him to step up in the way he has. If he feels caring for his grown daughter should be considered a job, that fine with me! And in hoping he reads this...i love you Max!!! You are my high point of the day!!

23. It's not at all unusual for caregivers (even when family members) to get paid for their services, when the money is available. A friend did this for an elderly family member who needed supervision and care, as an alternative to the nursing home he had been in. She was a nurse, and simply charged the going rate for such care locally (which she would have received if she had been able to work elsewhere). When she had to be out of town, she paid other people to do what she had been doing. He was much happier at her home and had plenty of money stashed away, so it was a good deal for him. Even less trained family caregivers can justify getting paid if the money is available, since otherwise they could get another paycheck. If no money is available, the person gets such personal at-home care only if there is someone in the family able to do it for free. Not everybody can drop their paying job for such things.

People find out very quickly how much such care services are worth on the open market when suddenly they have to pay directly for them (e.g., when the person doing such things dies or becomes ill or has to get an outside job for financial reasons). A friend figured he was losing 50 cents per hour when his wife was out of town and he had to hire someone to watch the kids while he was at work...

$2500 per week is peanuts in that area, and I'm sure that Britney's dad could make much more than that doing his regular work. I'm sure the court considered whether the amount was reasonable for the work he was doing, as well as what he was losing by not being able to work elsewhere. I don't know if he has backup help to run things while he's out of it, but often in small businesses a person not only loses immediate income but worse, loses clients and has to build up the business again after a long inactive stretch.

26. I think people misunderstand. HE DID put his life, business and love life on hold to help Britney, his daughter which he obviously loves. He has done an outstanding job getting her life back together considering he is not a professional manager, shrink or assistant. Since he is not able to make a living because helping Britney has been a full time job, I think it is only fair he does get some financial compensation. $2500 a week is nothing, and if he were out for money he could have asked for more. She can afford it, and I am sure she is happy to help him since after all he has went above and beyond to show Britney support and unconditional love at a time in her life that she really needed. Keep in mind people, she is an adult even if she doesnt act like it. He didnt have to do anything, certainly not to the extreme he has. So show Papa Spears some love for Pete's sake!!
