Mickey Doesn't Wear Turbans!

Mouse ears don't grow on turbans, according to a Sikh trumpeter who says he got negged for a job by Disney because of his religious headgear -- and facial hair.

In his suit, Sukhbir Channa says when he applied for a job at Disney World in 2006, he was told his turban, beard, and long hair didn't conform to the "Disney look." Here's the goofy part: just a few months before, in 2005, he says he marched as a toy soldier in a Disney parade with no problems-- but then his turban was hidden by a big toy soldier hat.

Disney tells TMZ that Channa's claim is "without merit."

137.
being descendants from india,
does NOT make you " US INDIANS "

american indians,
are of u.s. decent.

so when unlce sam " pays " for your education in this country,
don't make it sound like you're indian " from " the united states.

138. I don't know what's more lovely: A Jewish company (Disney) practicing/tolerating hatred; or TMZ by not clarifying that he had already worked for Disney as he looked.

Instead TMZ has decided to fuel and encourage the flames of hatred, intolerance in lieu of doing a quick Google search before pandering to the politics of demonizing a minority when they rarely say anything positive about them.

140. At first reading these nasty comments got me very mad...how can people be so stupid. Arab and Sikh ARE NOT the same thing...Sikhs do not believe in Islam as Muslims do..Sikhs are not hindus either...Sikhism and hinduism couldn't be further apart. It makes me sick to think Disney could be acting this way...how would they like it if all of a sudden they were told they can't wear a yamaka? Star of David? As for all you red necks...my God inbreeding does make you stupid eh? lol That or the American education system really sucks. Thank god for Canada

I am very proud to hear of a Sikh born and raised in the States who still respects and abides by his faith. He is a role model to many. Sikhs are very hard working honest decent people...we dont bitch and hem and haw like you white ppl. Why shouldnt he be able to work where he wants? Isnt that his right? oh ya he's in the States not here...States where white ppl get it all and if you are a minority well assimulate or leave....great philosophy you people have!

Curious...does that mean Disney won't hire Blacks, Mexicans or Orientals? Hey they dont fit the 'disney image' do they? Mickey is a mouse man...not a human...what colour are mice?

Glad to be in the true land of the free.... ;)

141. I think those of you leaving negative comments about someone's religion should do their research before commenting. The guy in this article is FAR from Muslim. That just goes to show how ignorant so many Americans are. I too am an American and am ashamed that in a country so open minded and free as ours, there are people such as those above that have no clue as to what they are talking about. Don't forget, this country has an Equal Opportunity Law, regardless of Race, Sex, Gender, and Religion, everyone has a fair chance at ANY job. (Even to be Mickey Mouse!) With that being said, EDUCATE YOURSELF and GROW UP!

142. This is directed towards Charleswitman...

143. Exactly raj................i was in shock when i first read all the ignorant comments on this site. I have met and worked with people from various religious backgrounds and different races, but I have never encountered such prejudice as I did on these message boards.
One of my dads friends was killed because an IGNORANT american just like the people on these boards. The american man had mistaken a sikh man as a muslim after 9/11 attacks. He was mistaken for a muslim just because he wore a turban so he assaulted and him. Sad a husband/father lost his life just because he faithfully followed his religion (wore a turban) even though he resided in a different country. I also feel sorry for the american man who has to spend the rest of his life in jail because he thought he killed a muslim but instead had killed a sikh man. now if that isnt stupid then what is?

144. You Americans are such assoles!!!!!!
So what if he wanted to work there. It is part of his religion to wear a turban and keep a beard. Atleast some people still follow their religion unlike u sick rednecks!!! Grow up its 2008 not 1950.
Too bad Indians out number white dr's, obivoulsy they are more smart.

GO EDUCATE YOURSELF

146. yes idiot u do. you go to foreign countries expecting them to speak to u in english, dont u? so yes, u do expect other countries to conform to u. and yes we are indian americans. that doesnt make us less of an american than you. as far as customs are concerned, what customs are referring to? this is someones religion. u know, what goes around come around, its called karma. one day u will experience discrimination. the first thing that will come to mind is that you cant believe its happening to you, your second thought will be this comments page and how you will have wished you never posted your ignorant comments on here to begin with.

147. Wow..you guys posting are pretty stupid...

PPL keep referring to this person as a Musilim; however he is Sikh and that is totally seperate issue.
What if the situation was different - Cinderella cannot be played by a black girl; or Aladdin can't be a chinese guy?

How can someone say go back to your own country - you don't know if the guy was born in the US; thus that would be his own country. Don't forget the US was founded by Native Indians and not the Whites or Blacks. So if you want to kick people out of "your country" than you should also leave to since its NOT REALLY YOURS...

AMERICANS ARE NOT THE BRIGHTEST PEOPLE - BUT EDUCATE YOURSELF BEFORE POSTING.

148. Although I do not think that religious discrimination is warranted, I probably wouldn't apply to a job that restricted my ability to either practice my religion or in my case wear my hair or clothing a certain way. I think its really reductive for someone to think that wearing a turban means your a terrorist- actually its really disgusting because its called racial profiling. Anyone who believes something like that has fallen into the pattern of beleiving everything they see on the news or read in the newspapers. Learn to deconstruct images and racial slurs presented to you in the media. Disney is still breaching his freedoms as an individual since originally they hired him saying it was acceptable if he was in the marching band with his beard and turban. So evidently the employer just went back on his/her word. The problem is that Disney was ready to make an exception with their policy but then they changed their minds- if Disney wants to have a discriminatory policy they need to remain consistent. I really don't think making racist commetns is neccessary to reply to this post- people need calm down and grow up.

149. The racist and xenophobic ignoramous' responses on this website is a reflection of the educational and IQ deficeincy suffered by a closed minded country about to have its eyes opened by its worst nightmare - A black president ROFL

BTW

A. Hes SIkh not Muslim
B. As per the constitution he has the right to freely procstice his religion
C. He was born in US and is a US citizen
D. Get used to it rednecks Indian is buying Dreamworks, your steel industry, your computer industry, your banks along with China because you are clearly too inbred and destroying the gene pool to be the future - you will be merely our workers not our bosses!!!
