Mickey Doesn't Wear Turbans!

Mouse ears don't grow on turbans, according to a Sikh trumpeter who says he got negged for a job by Disney because of his religious headgear -- and facial hair.

In his suit, Sukhbir Channa says when he applied for a job at Disney World in 2006, he was told his turban, beard, and long hair didn't conform to the "Disney look." Here's the goofy part: just a few months before, in 2005, he says he marched as a toy soldier in a Disney parade with no problems-- but then his turban was hidden by a big toy soldier hat.

Disney tells TMZ that Channa's claim is "without merit."

16. I AGREE WITH EVERYONE HERE! If you don't like it go back to where you came from. This is America, last time I checked every employer has the right to implement a dress code. If you don't like it, don't work there. I want to wear jeans to work, but my employer won't allow it. I'd rather not where them, conform to the dress code and have a job.

19. When youre hired on, you must agree to the dress code, which means no facial hair or headgear, regardless of your race or religion. So no, Disney was not picking on Muslims. This lawsuit is ridiculous.

20. I worked at Dland for many years and could not grow facial hair, and that was that. It is a non issue really with the folks that work there. If you don't like the policy, don't apply. Sure it does not make sense, I mean, Walt had a moustache, but so be it.

Allah Akbar, Y'all.

22. Sigh. I tried to get a job at a Disney Store when I was in college, but because I had a tattoo on my ankle and "multiple" piercings (2) in one ear, I couldn't work there. They have always had very very strict rules, get over it and quit whining.

23. If Obama can change, then maybe this guy can too. Just put on some sheep's clothing and the hair, beard, and turban will disappear. But - be careful - once you get the job, be sure and continue to hide it until the grace period is over. Contact Obama for a few tips.

24. 1) To those saying he should go back to where he came from, no where in the brief article does it state that he is not an American citizen. Just because his name isn't Mike Jones or Poliot Inspektor (thank you hollywood) does not mean he is an immigrant.
2) What the job was is not stated. If it was a costume job, what's the problem? If it's a guy at a stand selling turkey legs, what's the problem? If it's a professional business job, what's the problem? As long as he is clean, who cares?
3) Does this require a suit? Probably not. But it does need to get attention. This is America, the cultural melting pot. We are not some monolithic America that needs to rely on ignorance to keep power. Obviously this road isn't working.
4) Common decency people.

26. Most of the comments above are erroneous. Sikhs are not muslim, nor are they hindu. The faith is about close to islam is christianity is.

27. Sikhs are not Muslims, dumba**es of America! However, the point is unchanged. A private company has the right to maintain a dress code--like it or not. Sorry, $$$$ Seeking Dude!

28. Terrorist? As far as I know, Sikhism is a separate faith from India that is the 5th largest religion in the world. They wear turbans to cover their uncut hair as a required part of the their religion. It's completely separate from Islam (not that it's ok to hate Muslims, either) and they believe in equality, justice, and tolerance for all people. Maybe the bigots on this site should learn how to use Google and do some research before they spew hate all over this blog...

Go back to "where he came from?" I'm pretty sure he was born and raised in Florida, so I guess he should stay put in his hometown where he just wants a job at Disney like his friends. He's more "American" than anyone spreading hate and intolerance here. While the first amendment to our Constitution protects freedom of religion, it sounds like a lot of people here would rather live in a closet...

What if Disney refused to hire Catholics? Or Jews? Or Blacks? I usually love TMZ, but I'm disgusted to read these comments. Grow up.

30. The ambulance chasing attorneys should be fined when frivolous lawsuits like this are thrown out of court…that would help cut down on them.
