Mickey Doesn't Wear Turbans!

Mouse ears don't grow on turbans, according to a Sikh trumpeter who says he got negged for a job by Disney because of his religious headgear -- and facial hair.

In his suit, Sukhbir Channa says when he applied for a job at Disney World in 2006, he was told his turban, beard, and long hair didn't conform to the "Disney look." Here's the goofy part: just a few months before, in 2005, he says he marched as a toy soldier in a Disney parade with no problems-- but then his turban was hidden by a big toy soldier hat.

Disney tells TMZ that Channa's claim is "without merit."

46. Thiis is a lost cause for the guy. My girlfriend used to work at Disney. Heres the lowdown. Employees are called character. They are called characters for a reason. You obviously cant be a black guy and expect to be Peter Pan, oe even a white girl with blond hair and expect to be Mulan. They call Disney workers "characters" so they can legally discriminate against people. So if they were looking for a guy to play a part in Aladin he would probably get the part. But to work at Disney think of it as auditioning and not a job opportunity. Oh and did you know that Coke pays Disney to carry their soda. So every time you buy a soda it is 100% profit! Yet it costs $70.00 to go.

48. I think I will get a large swastika tattooed on my forehead and then apply for a job were I must
be around the public. When (if) I do not get hired, I will get the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union)
to file a multi-million dollar lawsuit saying my civil rights were violated.
Come On! Disney World does not allow
body piercings, mangy hair, etc. why would they want to hire someone who looks and is (IS) a terrorist?
He probably wanted a job there so he could figure out how to kill the maximum amount of little kids when he
sets of his bombs.

49. #42, WOW a real intelligent person!!! I applaud you for your comments. Strange how ifnorant Americans lump all dark skinned forieners as "Muslims???

50. "We should not have to adjust, follow or obey any rules or regulations that prevent us from getting a job because of they way we look or dress..."

Oh, I guess you're "special" and above common society. Around here in America, many companies have a dress code. If your religion prevents you from taking a job, that's your problem. Nobody is forcing you to work there. Some people can't touch pork. Do you think they go to a slaughter house and say "I can't touch the pork. Someone else much touch it and I will get paid anyway."

If you wanted to work at certain chemical plants, you can't have facial hair because the gas masks won't fit properly. You gonna get a job there, then tell them to invent another mask so you can be a fuzzy face. GET REAL!

Bottom line: No we don't have to bend over backwards so you can wear a silly hat or display hair on your face.

52. I wish all of you idiots would get off your soap box and crack open a history book. Thumb to the back where you find the U.S. Constitution. If that's too much trouble, Google it. Then take a look at the First amendment.

Or look here you doofus.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The feds can't prohibit someone from practicing their relgiion, the state can't, and I'm pretty sure Walt Disney can't either. And this particular garb is part of their religion. Furthermore...Google this:

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 says, however, that an employer is not required to accommodate an employee’s religious practices -- including religious clothing -- if they impair workplace safety, cause co-workers to carry the accommodated employee’s share of potentially hazardous or burdensome work or conflict with another law or regulation.

I doubt his turban and beard impair workplace safety.

When I read crap like this on the internet, I feel ashamed to call myself American knowing that idiots are telling someone to go back to a war torn country instead of insisting our government stand up for the rights of its people. Ridiculous.

54. Yeah well no big surprise. I interviewed at Disney in 2005 and they told me if I got the job I would have to remove a so tiny you can barely see it diamond earring. I asked the interviewer if he was kidding me. Needless to say, I didn't get the job.

55. DISNEY DIDN'T WANT TO HIRE ME BECAUSE I'M A FAT SLOB!

56. Disney has had this policy for as long as I can remember. Almost 15 years ago I knew a guy who worked for them and who told me about their no long hair or facial hair policy for men. Back then, they still had their clean-cut image, and didn't want any rockers or headbangers working for them. I believe that they also have a policy about visible tattoos, as do many companies. They also didn't allow smoking at the park, and there were no alcohol sales either. We actually had to take the tram off the park to get some drinks! It's sort of the same reason that you don't see any fat chicks working at Hooters. It would go against the image.

57. This is ridiculous. This person is just out for money, and if Disney settles they are leaving themselves open to lawsuits. I worked for Disney for a time and they have a very strict dress code. You can't even wear earrings unless they are studs, no more than one ring per hand and nail colors had to be light pink, French manicure, or American manicure. It specifically states in the dress code that men are not allowed to have facial heir, there are no exceptions. If he was just out to make sure that Disney did not discriminate against someone for religious reasons then he would not be asking for such a large sum of money. Hopefully no jury is dumb enough to vote in favor of this man.

58. First of all Sikhs are not muslim so some of you people who left comments need to get your facts straight. Second Muslim not not = terrorist. Its a shame that all of you commenting to this are have negative steryotypes of people and having ethnocentric views. Also its a law that you can't base employment on race, religion and gender. However Disney is its own corportation run by the elites so it has the authority to accept and reject whoever they want. Disney has had many scandals but they're able to pay ppl to keep their mouths shut, it aint a fantasy land that we all make it out to be.

59. Dark people like this man scare spoiled, rich, snotty litte, white kids and their whiney, stressed-out overworked, church going Republican parents who have bought into some bland, cookie cutter version of the American Dream who think "magic" and "happiness" means spending thousands of dollars making a vacation destination a hot stinky theme park.
