Archuleta's Daddy Day Care

Guess David Archuleta won't have to worry too much about that prom next year -- because he won't be going to Murray High!

David withdrew from school during his run through "American Idol." School officials tell TMZ David hasn't re-signed up for his senior year, which starts on August 25.

He'll be out on the road on the "AI" tour until September. Our sources tell us he is ditching Murray to do the home school thing (as in home with Daddy Dearest Jeff ) so he can work on his new album.

We haven't heard from David's reps as yet.

46. Too bad. Maybe if he finished high school, he'd be able to put together a whole sentence!

47. Homeschooling works & with the Teacher guides in today's homeschooling curriculum, even an idiot can teach. I homeschooling from son from 5 years old & he just graduated last month with an electrical engineering degree. And no, I do not have a college degree. Like I said, with today's curriculum with explicitly explained Teacher's guides, ANYONE can homeschool. It only requires self discipline. Homeschooling is now mainstream & those who criticize it's effectiveness are simply unaware & speak from opinions formed in ignorance of the homeschooling community.

48. It is too bad that David's parents are so short sighted and biased that a high school diploma and all that goes with the social activity in a senior year will be skipped. David will have a very difficult future when he grows up and leaves home (if they actually allow that) if he decides that he would like to pursue a college education and has to go back and get a GED. Music is wonderful but like athletics very few make it in the big time and then someone generally rips the ones with little education and business sense off -- even family has done this. It is very selfish and self serving for Jeff to put his own needs and wants before the future needs of his own child. He lives vicariously through David due to his lack of personal success.

49. News of David Archuleta's decision to be home schooled is very important because it informs the public as to his commitment to continuing to pursue his carrer musically and at what level he will dive into it. Some would recommend that he continue with his schooling from an accredited high school so as to obtain acceptance into a major university as a backup to his music carrer. Obviously, David feels that he is strong enough as a performer to make music his first choice and only carrer opportunity. Now we can rest assured that the young Idol will give it his all since the rest of his life does depend on his success here and now.

Good work TMZ. Intellectuals appreciate you outside of your entertainment content. --Bebonia Enzo--

I completely agree with you. Jeff is pushing David A. for his own gain. Very few do make in the business. Everyone wants to make the quick BUCK while he not forgetable, that will slowly fade. David A. will be forgetable. Eveyone just going to get a peace of him, including Daddy Jeff. Hopefully, David A. can handle it. He no baby. He going to have to learn to handle things himself, with out Jeff A. He really need to grow up. Or he will pay the price!!
David A. should get a good education! Music only last so long!! He is NO pop star. I don't hate or dislike David A. I actually really like the guy. Just the way I see the music industry and where its going. He can sing. If you notice they try and market all this new star as sex simbles. That just not David A. Especilly if the rumor of him being GAY is true!!!! Which I'm pretty sure it is.

51. You guys try to keep up as I will type slowly...first, there is nothing wrong with not attending a traditional HS as ALL child actors are tutored on the movie sets. Second, DA is signed up with some sort of internet accredited school program (he threw out some abbreviation in a recent interview) while he was on AI (Feb 2008) and will probably continue with them next year. He won't have time for traditional HS as he will be on tour and then working on his album (prob in LA which of course is no where near Utah) and then promoting it next year. I am sure that DA could take the GED and pass it right now....but he is more interested in getting a HS education for learning sake, even if it is on-line.

52. It too bad that there are so many people that waste their time spouting ignorant and negative comments about DA and his family. Seriously, get a life!

53. I am so sad that people take time out to bash a 17-yr old who is just starting his career. Is kindness gone from our vocabulary? With the world in shambles, at least there is this young person who has remained humble and good - a break from all the 'weird' things teenagers are doing these days - drugs, sex , violence - you name it.
Please, let's give this kid a chance. Do we even remember what we did when we were 17?
