UK Says Martha's a Bad Thing

The Red Coats want nothing to do with Martha Stewart!

The domestic goddess has been turned down for a visa to enter Britain because of her rap sheet. She was reportedly set to tour several areas of the country, as well as tour the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

Stewart spent five months in a federal prison in 2004 after she was convicted of conspiracy and lying to the Feds.

Charles Koppelman, the Chairman of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia told TMZ "Martha loves England; the country and English culture are near and dear to her heart. She has engagements with English companies and business leaders and hopes this can be resolved so that she will be able to visit soon."

16. She is a criminal its the same as if you want to entered the US they as you the same questions why should she be any different because she is American, a criminal conviction is a criminal conviction it is that simple. What gets me is some where along the line you Americans think the rules dont apply, well to countrys like Britian and Australia they do.

17. I am NOT a Martha Stewart fan, but I believe she was honestly a scapegoat for someone/ some organization too proud to admit they were wrong!

18. That's beyond harsh.

I think Camilla might be just a tad bit too jealous. The Duchess of Cornwall might be afraid Prince Charles and Martha might want to putter about in the garden.

19. England is the same country that won't put freaking Pete Dougherty in jail for any reasonable length of time.

20. I think your all wrong.

There was a time, when UK did allow so called "felons" into the country, especially if they were in the so called celebrity class. Same as the US did and all of the G7? (whatever the number is countries now.)

I remember the big uproar when OJ was invited to the UK to give some (spew) at a university something or other. In lieu of absolute banning him, he was allowed entry on a strictly one time basis.

This all happened before September 11, 2001.

Now ALL countries, including the US, check and validate, each and every applicant. If not THEY SHOULD.

Martha has nothing to worry about. She, ( her lawyers), will appeal, present their case on her conviction, and will be allowed to do her thing. UK is just trying to curb the influx. After all, UK was one of the first "inclusive" counties where all are equal. Home grown terrorrists is exactly why the tide is turning from "mulit-culturism"(sp), which I think the US is still struggling with.

UK, i.e. England tried the melting pot issue. It's not working.
