Hulk's Own Charity Throws in the Towel

The charity that Hulk Hogan fronts -- and that Nick Hogan once worked for -- just had to pull the plug on their big Fourth of July event because ... well, take a wild guess.

The Freedom Group just 86'ed the 2008 "National Wave" -- which apparently involved a bunch of people across the country waving towels in unison at 9:00 PM on July 4 -- and blamed the Hogans. "We didn't want people entangling us into some soap opera," said Sean Chumura, one of the guys who set up the Wave, to the Beaver County (Pa.) Times. Chumura, you may remember, testified on Nick's behalf at his sentencing.

As for the Hogans, they tell TMZ, "We remain very supportive of The National Wave and look forward to participating in the event."

Hogan's manager, Darren Prince, tells TMZ Chumura and the Freedom Group "believe and love Hulk and decided it would be best to postpone the event." Also, he says the "soap opera" Chumura referred to was the "media and paparazzi that would show up purely to ask about his personal life and not the event at hand."

76. Liz...the first one.. U R 100% CORRECT... I was just putting out info abt laws and soon to be laws here. Has nothing with that immature driver at all...the "accident" would never have happened here..he would have had his car hauled off the road the 1st time!!!!!!!!

77. It is not very nice how the HOGANS have talked, & reacted to and about the poor kid JOHN. I don't know, but it sure seems that those REALITY SHOWS are all DOOMED if you go on them, but I must admit that I do watch them.

85. To #44 Asuigeneris 1, I will try to make the explanation as simple as possible for you so maybe you will understand. Nick Bollea and his parents are solely responsible for this wreck. Nick was allowed to get his license and as a minor has to have parental permission. Nick was driving a car registered in his father's name, the insurance is also in his fathers name. He had alcohol in his system. He was the driver and was racing from one stop light to the next on a wet street. The palm tree did not jump out into the street and hit the car which was speeding. Now I agree with you that more than likely Graziano had been drinking too. I also agree that it is stupid of him to be hanging around with a kid. He now lies in a permanent coma with irreversible brain damage. Isn't that enough punishment for you!? When you are a minor, your parents are liable for your actions when you drive. It has been proven over and over again that Terry and Linda Bollea not only knew how irresponsible Nick was driving, they were with him many times and allowed him to endanger not only himself but anyone else unfortunate enough to be on the same roads as him. Nick got a light sentence, Graziano a life sentence. Do you still blame Graziano?

Why doesn't everyone back off the Hogan's for a second and start to listen to all this from a outsider stand point!I feel very badley for John,but at the same time i'm sure he wasn't in that car telling Nick to slow down,or "No don't do it".John was probably amping it up with the best of them...I believe also that Nick wants to make as much money as posible with reality t.v so he can pay his dues and restatution...Nick is just a boy...We have no idea really what goes on in the minds of the Hogans and we only hear the little chunks that the media wants us to hear so they can make the story a little bit more juicier for their selfish ratings! And further more if this wasn't the"HOGAN'S" per say nobody would even be blinking an eye at this situation!!!!!!!
