Hulk's Own Charity Throws in the Towel

The charity that Hulk Hogan fronts -- and that Nick Hogan once worked for -- just had to pull the plug on their big Fourth of July event because ... well, take a wild guess.
Hulk Hogan
The Freedom Group just 86'ed the 2008 "National Wave" -- which apparently involved a bunch of people across the country waving towels in unison at 9:00 PM on July 4 -- and blamed the Hogans. "We didn't want people entangling us into some soap opera," said Sean Chumura, one of the guys who set up the Wave, to the Beaver County (Pa.) Times. Chumura, you may remember, testified on Nick's behalf at his sentencing.

As for the Hogans, they tell TMZ, "We remain very supportive of The National Wave and look forward to participating in the event."

Hogan's manager, Darren Prince, tells TMZ Chumura and the Freedom Group "believe and love Hulk and decided it would be best to postpone the event." Also, he says the "soap opera" Chumura referred to was the "media and paparazzi that would show up purely to ask about his personal life and not the event at hand."

106. Can the Hogan supporters please learn to spell?? As soon as you start to read one of their posts, you know where it's headed:Give Nick a break, he's just a kid! or Uh, what about John not wearing his seatbelt? Of course the spelling & grammar aren't correct when they type it. AGAIN-only the highly uneducated who are not capable of wrapping their minds around the truth & what the laws state are pro-Hogan. I frankly don't care what any of you come back and say your level of education is because it is highly unlikely.

109. Once again, waaaaay too much attention to the moron's this family is acting like. Can they get a PR person who can help turn then back around. Hulk and Brooke are salvagable. Nick is like his mother 'Clueless", they feel a sense of entitlement. I think the reality series really showed them for what they where. Nick was trying to be the all american red-neck kid, but it back fired on him. Did anyone ever hear of time out in this family? When you watched the show Linda cared more about animals then peole, she spent money on spirit chasers and weight-guru's come on charity began with whatever whim she was having. Hulk as a strong fan of yours, sit down with JOhn's family in private come to a resolution and keep it private. Stop with the reality shows, and live up to the image that you worked so hard to provide the public. We wish you and your daughter nothing but the best, Linda needs to find herself and Nick needs a quick kick in the pants. Just leave the publice out of it.

110. Mr Allen C, Sokolik jr

I must correct your assunption. The reason I blame Nick is he was BEHIND THE WHEEL. No matter what John did or did not say NICK WAS BEHIND THE WHEEL. He is ultimately responsible for the way the car is driven. Being "famous" is irrelevant. The anger and resentment against him comes from his previous driving record and his and his parents lack of respect for the laws of our roads. His parents encouraged his reckless behavior and continue to make excuses for it. They have a sense that they are somehow not obliged to follow the laws we mere mortals have to obey and it ticks this mortal off no end.

You admire Hulk Hogan. Unfortunately he is a character created by Terry Bollea. I see no reason you would admire a man who thinks putting a young man in a permanent vegatative state makes them a better person or a man who looks to make money off a targedy he and his son created. Buying alcohol for your underage child is not something most parents aspire to do. His interview on LKL was telling. It takes ALOT of gall to refer to your son who is serving time for wrecking his car and causing his friend to be a vegetable as a "precision driver". The man is completlely out of touch with reality if that is his idea of a "precision driver".
