Kiedis: Shoulder Belts Are For Sissies

Taking a page from the Britney Spears school of driving, Chili Pepper Anthony Kiedis drove around Sunday in this clown car-like contraption thingy with his eight-month-old son Everly in a Snuggly.

Are these things even street legal? Apparently, safety does not come first in that family.

16. love #1's post. What a moron. Clearly Anthony's shoulder belt is hanging right next to his seat--not on. Clearly the baby is strapped to his chest. Clearly missing the point that the baby is the one that is not safe. And #1 says to get the facts straight before you post. HA

17. Never let your kids life get in the way of your politics. Reminds me of Paul Shanklin's "In a Hugo" a liberal guy and liberal girl but they didn't get far in a Hugo-------------besides the nanny state would be sending social workers to take our kids if it were us.

18. WTF part of "IN A SNUGGLY" do u morons not understand? Is a snuggly a car seat fit for an 8 month old? NO! Does saying hes wearing a seatbelt suddenly turn a snuggly into an approved carseat? NO! Seriously u people need to learn to read and look at the pic before making dumb ass comments and he deserves to have his kid taken away just like BritBrit did.

Posted at 12:48PM on Jun 23rd 2008 by Amazing. Need a license to drive but any asshole can have a kid!

19. this is coming from a website that continually obstructs drivers' views and has caused numerous accidents...whatever tmz. take your fake baby patrol elsewhere. anthony and everly should have run your asses down.

21. One of the most stupid and moronic sites I have seen. Why was he not just shot on site for being this stupid. Using a baby for your own cushion! How do people like this even get a drivers license?

22. These are called GEM cars, or Global Electric Motorcars. TMZ, please do some research before posting your stories.

www.gemcar.com/models/details.asp?MID=4 the below is taken from the company's website

About GEM

Global Electric Motorcars, a Chrysler company, has been in operation for ten years. Global Electric Motorcars manufactured its first vehicle in April 1998, a 48-volt GEM car that accommodated two passengers and had a top speed of 20 mph. Less than two months later, a significant breakthrough occurred in the market as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) designated a new class of motor vehicle, the low-speed vehicle, also known as the Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV). The low-speed vehicle class allowed GEM cars to be driven on public roads if they met certain safety criteria such as having safety belts, headlamps, windshield wipers, and safety glass. GEM cars always come equipped with these safety features making them a benchmark in the industry.

GEM battery-electric vehicles not only represent a relatively new vehicle in an emerging market segment, but also a new and growing brand within the Chrysler family. Just like Chrysler, Dodge and JeepĀ®, or many of the other well-established brands in the company's portfolio, GEM stands for innovation and leadership.

Global Electric Motorcars aims to establish its brand presence both as the maker of the top-selling NEV in the market and the purveyor of one of the smartest solutions to traffic congestion and air quality problems yet to be introduced. The solution: zero-emissions personal transportation that is well integrated with traditional alternative transportation choices such as mass transit and carpooling.

23. When I was a kid, we did way more dangerous things that that. Kids were never buckled up. Geez, the paperazzi need to get a life. There are too many important things going on in the world to be worrying about Anthony Kiedis!

24. Phew, so if there is an accident, Anthony will be cuhioned by his baby, thank goodness.

25. Rhonda: Please tell me you were joking. In a "Hugo?" its "In a YUGO!" As in the vehicle that came out late 80's early 90's, was called a Yugo, because it was developed in Yugoslavia. Holy Crap?! You listen to Rush? He talks alot about public school education, you should perk up and listen the next time he's talking.

28. I dig these vehicles. I used to live in the southwest and would see them all the time at the dealerships and even in traffic. If I could I'd get one. checked out the website 'www.gemcar.com/models/details.asp?MID=4, and for about $10-grand for the one he's riding in, 15 to 25-MPH with a range of only 30-miles per charge (electric), must admit it's not much bang for the buck. It's still 'COOL though...
