Kiedis: Shoulder Belts Are For Sissies

Taking a page from the Britney Spears school of driving, Chili Pepper Anthony Kiedis drove around Sunday in this clown car-like contraption thingy with his eight-month-old son Everly in a Snuggly.

Are these things even street legal? Apparently, safety does not come first in that family.

32. At our summer place in Northern Cali there are GEMs and golf carts everywhere with kids hanging all over barefoot and not buckled in. No one complains, no one gets in your business. I used to hang onto cars on skateboards and sleds when I was a kid. I never wore a helmet on my bike and laid in the back window of the car and CRACKED up laughing when mom slammed on the brakes and I flew off. Kids still do it where I come from. The seatbelt fine for a kid not buckled in is $35. Shooting a deer outta season is $300. Make sense? It's cuz this is LA. We judge cuz we are a-holes. Cuz everyone that writes some BS about someone else is perfect riiiiiight. Kiss my ass you have all done stupid or careless things. And most of the time it was fun. So stop it.

34. If this were Britney everyone would be having a major fit. Yeah the baby is strapped to his father but what would happen if he were to get hit from behind and fly forward would the baby be safe then? I think not. This just goes to show that Britney isn't the only parent that makes poor decisions.

35. And to think we complain about DumbAss in the white house -- you guys are all DumbAsses. This is a STREET LEGAL ELECTRIC VEHICLE -- EGM -- and quite safe. It's made by Chrysler and better than that gas guzzler you all drive.

37. The law (at least here in WA State) is - all children under 12 in the back seat!! Are you more interested in protecting your child, or showing off how the law of the world doesn't apply to you? Guess what? Famous people's kids die too!! Don't be stupid. Put your kid's safety first.

38. got to agree with 29. if they are stopped and he is sitting on his lap there is nothing wrong with that. everyone is jumping down this guys throat and you can not even tell if he is moving or not. also i can remember as a kid sitting on my dads lap as he drove. he would let me believe i was driving. its amazing what was not a big deal years ago is the worst things now. whats next..

39. car seats arent really that secure. how many times do they tilt etc on a sharp turn etc. i remember a kid dying because his head hit the window while he was in one. when there are no doors in your car and there are mostly shoulder belts, i think he made the best decision given the situation.

41. SO if he kills the kid at least his genes are removed from the gene pool.

42. Charge #37
If the seat is tipping and tilting, it's not installed properly.

43.
There are always exceptions. Some cars do not come with backseats. In that case, it is permittable to put a child in the front seat.
Let me guess.. "bob" is a kid with no kids! lol

44. It's quite impossible to install it securely if there is only a shoulder/waist seatbelt-in-one, which this vehicle carries in the back. There are always problems with the shoulder part of the seatbelt imposing force to lift the carrier or booster in either the right or left direction, dependent on whether one installs it on the left or right side. For a tighter and better fit, the middle of the backseat usually carries a regular waist belt which can tighten and loosen to one's specifications.
