Celebrity Justice
Anthony 'Melo with Plea Deal

Carmelo Anthony just took a charge for the team -- well, himself -- and escaped a heavy DUI charge today in court.

The Nuggets All-Star was sentenced to probation and community service for a charge of driving while ability-impaired. In exchange, prosecutors are dropping a more serious DUI charge. He was also whistled for failure to stay in a single lane -- not the hardwood kind.

He'll serve one year of probes, do 24 hours of community service, and pay a grand in fines. He was also just suspended two games by the Nuggs.

16. Melo's sentence is ridiculous. I live in Denver and I'm a huge Nuggets fan, however, I don't think his sentence should be any different from that of everyone else is the state of CO. Everyone i know who has had a DUI was senteced to classes as well as daily/randowm breathalizers along with the fines and communitiy service. Guess it goes to show you what money can do... way to be a role model Melo!

18. I know he's a pro athlete, but he's human like everyone else in this world. Everyone makes mistakes. Instead of your children looking up 2 these guys as role models, you should b better parents and maybe they could look up 2 u.
