Celebrity Pay Dirt
Kelly Clarkson Is No Ed McMahon

At least one former "American Idol" isn't worried about the housing crisis -- Kelly Clarkson just bought herself a new crib, y'all!

The OG "Idol" purchased this really nice -- but modest for a Grammy-winning pop star -- $1.5 million home in Nashville.

Maybe keeping it simple will be keeping Kelly from having to perform at local balloon festivals, housing developments or outlet malls in the future!

18. Good for you Kelly. Just because you are making money now doesn't mean you will be making money 5 years from now. 20 million now may seem like a lot, but it is nothing when you start spending money like a maniac. Look at Ed McMahon, look at Mike Tyson, Lindsey Lohan, and countless others. If you are going to sit back and buy a 10 million dollar mansion, throw money up in air, wear 5 carart diamond studs, have a couple of $100,000 cars sitting around, eat at 5 star resturants every night, jet set around the world, spend thousands upon thousands of dollars in clothes every month, and pay a whole entourage of body guards, cooks, housekeepers, assistants, etc.,,,You better be extremely, extremely wealthy. Otherwise it will disappear like a fart in the wind.

19. Just wondering.....
Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks that lost everything in the floods ?

Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn't solved the problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?

Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago ? and relocating them complete with housing, money, food, medical, and new jobs all over the country?

When will Spike Lee say that the Fed eral Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines ,Cedar Rapids and Iowa City?

Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?

Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets? And where is the raping and murdering going on in the shelters? The riots in the streets??

When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a 'vanilla' Iowa , because that's the way God wants it?

Where is the h ysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of looting, raping, child abandonment, murdering, rioting, and police corruption?

Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?

How come in 2 weeks, you will never hear about Iowa flooding ever again?Because Iowa will have the faith and courage to dig out, chip in, give a hand, and rebuild with out any of the above problems, without complaining or without needing everything handed to them free. That's the way God fearing, patriotic,'help your neighbor', Midwestern people are !!!!!!!

20. Flood Victom (sic), I'm not sure what your point was, or why you hijacked the Kelly Clarkson thread, and if you are, in fact, a flood victim, I am sorry for your loss. But as for your post, that was really dumb. Was that supposed to be a slap on the people of Louisiana? Are you trying to aver you are a better flood victim than they were? As I said, that was really dumb.

21. Yeah, yeah "Flood victim". I'm from Iowa and from an area that was flooded. Iowans aren't saying this bull-crap. Rush Limbaugh is. Take it somewhere else. If I wanted to read the gas-bags stuff, I'd go to his website.

22. When you're on the road as much as Kelly is then why would you need 10,000 square feet of house to chill in a few months out of the year. This is actually Kelly's second home, she has a ranch in Texas as well with actually two houses on it, and a treehouse. She's a smart girl and very talented. She'll never have to play the state fairs again, she has a huge fan base that would follow her to the ends of the Earth. And from what I hear, they do.

23. Rush is an idiot as are you.

I agree with you and your post is very well taken. The reason celebrities, media and Feds aren't responding to the Midwestern flood? Simple: The vast majority of them are white!!!
1)Spike Lee, Sean Pean, Dixie Chicks and the NAACP aren't going to respond because it doesn't fit their deomcratic platform. 2)Generally speaking, Midwestern people are responsible people who have the intelligence and education to reasonably know what to do in the event of a natural crisis. And also know how to pitch in as a community to get threw the crisis, instead of looting and destorying like a bunch of animals. 3)The Federal Gov't isn't going to do anything unless they are forced to. George Bush and the the Federal Governments role is to handle Federal matters, not individual state crisis, unless that crisis reaches a fever pitch that may harm Federal matters. In the case of Katrina, the Feds were forced to intervene because of two things: The states poor planning and inablility to rescue and take care of it's citizens, and the media and organizations such as NAACP strong arming them. THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS: The United States IS NOT a democracy, and never have been. It is a REPUBLIC, which means the only rights you have are the ones under the constitution. People have to be prepared to take care of themselves in times of crisis, no one is going to baby feed you or automatially wisk you off to safety during times like these. YOU have to be ready.

25. As a matter of fact I think that comment is meant to be a slam againt the people of Louisiana. You did sit around and wait around for everyone to help you instead of trying to help yourselves. The brave people of Iowa aren't waiting for FEMA or the government for a hand out like you were. Where are all the celebrities? Is it because it isn't the in thing to this week? Or is it because, yes I will say it, because the majority of people in Iowa are white? Call me racist, I don't care, it seems okay for blacks to be racist, I mean wasn't it Kanye West or whatever he calls himself, that said our President hated black people? We'll see how fast Hollyweird get's on board if this flooding makes it's way to Louisiana the Nations Capital Welfare State and it definately shows!!!!!

27. You want the Dixie Chicks to help out when middle America turned on them, threatened their families and careers and had public burnings of their work?....all because they said the were ashamed of the President???

I would say Dixie Chicks owe you nothing!!!!

In fact, this country should be ASHAMED for what happend to the Dixie Chicks.

And we can get back to the topic at hand....KELLY CLARKSON!!!

30. This is a very smart move by Kelly. I'm sure she paid cash for it too. It's very refreshing to see a celebrity keep it simple and be smart with her money. I mean it can go a long way if you don't insist on pissing your money away.
